I gave it a 6, if it was a single player rpg it would be a 7.5,, C for average, but since it is not it should be lower.
In your opinion. Which you've made everyone aware of for weeks now.
Oh you have been in closed beta for years? so your feed back must be the game today? when TSW undersells and then fails to keep the 400,000 players as stated, that is because my opine is truth.
Many things believe me. employees and management are cashing in on stock options. The stock price is 1/2 that just before age of conan launched.
Tried to toss out a review of sorts, but I find I tire of all things MMO easily anymore.
I saw past the clunky combat, got lost in the story/atmosphere, then found myself say/wonder what level is the first instance?
So all in all, yet again we have the same thing. It is what it is.
It is still a game, and I find myself playing it like such, and it is that apathy that I find driving me away from my keyboard. For a minute I felt some twinges from TSW, but they are gone.
It's a 4/5 for me. I was happy to get a closed beta invite as have been a big fan of Lovecraft for a few decades now, as well as an avid reader of Poe and King and other such writers. I am not a fan of the mmorpgs of the past 8 or so years (there are a couple I do enjoy though), and much prefer the old school mmo's like M59, UO, EQ1 and AC1, as well as DAoC being my top 5 that i still play on and off today.
Not a gigantic fan of FC expecially after AoC, but I LOVED The Longest Journey back in the day, and so I had high hopes early on for TSW. Then as time went on and I read more and more about the game, I began to lose some interest. Things just didn't sound right to me... nothing major but things started adding up to "meh" for me.
Then I got into closed beta and sunk a decent amount of time into the game over a couple of weeks, and the game just never clicked for me
There's a few things I like about it but theres a lot of things I dislike about it. Opinions are opinions though, and I'm sure nobody cares about mine except me
I wont sit here and bash the game, I am sure there are folks who will love it for what it is. For me it's not what I was hoping for, and so I will very likely give it a pass. I dont outright despise it like I did when I beta'd TOR or anything like that, but this one was more dissappointing because the chance and hope for me to love it was much higher since I love the theme/concept of the game on paper.
In any event, my score was kind of a low one based soley on personal preference and personal experience, but I'd still recommend others to try it out while they still can. i tossed a CB key up here yesterday so that someone could check it out, because I do strongly believe there is an audience for this one.
I am still testing and will continue to until they stop beta, and I won't say "never" on this one, but I will say it's not for me at this moment.... The persistent 3 faction pvp ala camelot though, that might sway me We'll see.
For the time I spent in CB and decided to wait for the launch, I would rate my experience a 8 on your chart.
One thing as a gamer I look for is immersion, if I can get into the game, I am hooked, even with the game bugs.
The only other games they drew me into their world was: Anarchy Online, Evercrack, SWG, DAoC and FE (where I felt I was part of a big thing). WoW never captured my immersion, WoW was more convienent since everyone else played it and was easy to pick up on.
I hope TSW doesn't let me down once I get into it again, currently TERA has gotten my attention and keeping focused in it.
Got to the last zone in Translyvania in /played of 3 days so I wonder how it can justify a sub, especially with no engame (no I don't consider running the same 6 dungeons in different "modes" as endgame)
Found myself trying to avoid combat as I was questing, which is never a good sign
Investigation missions are fun the first time through, but I don't see the point after that
PVP was brutal, but I think that's just a balancing issue
I would have definitely paid a $60 box fee, but no way I could justify an additional sub + CS
mosst rated the game a 10? What did they rate SWTOR 25? amd tera 15? Anyone who has played the game in open or closed beta would forgo the 10.
I gave it a 6, if it was a single player rpg it would be a 7.5,, C for average, but since it is not it should be lower.
a 15 or 25?? what exactly are you trying to say? im kinda of confused by that statement. i do not get what the rating for tera or swtor have to do with the rating for tsw.
also i do not understand why the rating would be lower for a MMO over a Sp-rpg.
most of the ratings people have for tsw are going buy their currect experiance with the game as it is right now. as its still in a beta state these ratings are simply personal choice/point of view and not a reflection of the final game quality.
so ranking it up or down against finished games (aka tera and swtor) is kind of silly until the game it self launches. as well single player or multiplayer has no baring on a game's over all rating. so tsw would not lose or gain marks for being single player or multiplayer.
trying to rate it with that as a reason as a pro/con.. seems weird to me.

I wouldn't rate TSW a 10, but I would rate SWToR worse than TSW. The only thing that SWToR has going for itself is the story. TSW has that too, plus the environment design is much better. TSW will also launch with working large scale PVP, it will launch with working PVP gear, it will launch with just as many dungeons that are all just as well designed as the first one in SWToR.
I can't really compare to Tera though because I hated the controls in that game, so I don't have a valid opinion on its content.
1-10 rating scale is so confusing. You've got some people who think 6 is above average, and others who think 6 is terrible. You've got people who will rate something an 8 but say it's just not their kind of game, and people who will rate it a 2, yet go out and buy it anyhow.
A poll that's this far down the thread won't get many replies, but from closed beta testers, I'd just like to know...
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
So, since NDA is kind of lifted, and if you've been in CBT, rate the game according to what you feel. Don't have room for all number, but i don't thin a 2 will be missed
Also, if you really haven't been in CBT, KEEP YOUR HAND OF MAH POLL
I've been in CBT, and thus I voted.. but why do you really feel that CBT is better than OB at this point? I understand that CBT has more recent patches (this is actually worse, current cbt patches are a mess ._.) and more content, but.. I think people get a pretty good feel for what's going on after the first 2-3 zones (I think they can access the first three, but I KNOW they can access the first two).
They can also get into dungeons, but not PVP.
I wonder about the spread on votes. Though I rate the game poorly, I hope the spread is semi-accurate. It will let funcom know they really shouldn't have phoned it in on the combat.
Yeah, that was my bad. I was mostly trying to get people who played to about Egypt and beyong (since we've gotten to SC in OB), tried pvp, etc, since they probably have a much better opinion on the overall, but i didn't put it. Sorry.
It makes perfect sense to ask the CBT what they think as opposed to OB testers. The closed beta testers have usually gotten past the "I don't get the game" stage and the results will probably mirror what you will see 1-2 months after launch.

Great idea to do a simplified poll, but bad idea to put it on page 7 of a different poll thread
It will be lost in the noise once this thread goes past page 7...

Yeah, I know.. I just don't want to spam the forum with polls, either. Even after posting this, it occured to me that there's still a big hole in it. Maybe a better question would be if you plan on subscribing, since some people might have preordered just to get in beta. Or maybe even just, do you like TSW? Yes / No / Mixed?
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
I've played MMOs avidly since the early 90s (if you allow MUDs to count as MMOs) - and TSW is the best MMO I've seen since world of warcraft - really. however, it does require that you take at least 2 hours with it - play into savage coast, that's where the "gameplay" really starts. this game is a clear 10/10 for me - and I think it is silly to reduce a score to 7 due to character creation alone (agreed it's not great, best char creator there is now MMO wise is EVE IMO).
However - The Secret World is totally excellent - if you have a PC and like MMOs, well - this week-end its open for everyone and next Friday is Early Access - so the time is now, and boy do you have a blast of a time in front of you.
Funcom learnt so much from Age of Conan, and it shows - there is so much genre innovation in TSW, clones and copies will come - but TSW is here to stay.
I liked the CB, the team had a good fast cycle from idea to implimentation and engaged well with the community. The game is still pretty rough around the edges even this close to release, though has a lor of decent ideas and innovations.
I can only hope they don't pull an ANarchy Online style release and get some heavy duty polishing cloths ready .
Environment can be used in combat Skill wheel No classes Interesting quests. Some of these requires the use of the brain. Non fantasy environment
Negatives: Costs: Box and subscription and item shop is too much. And european people are even paying about 30% more. Because Funcom makes the conversion rate US$ 1 = EUR 1 which is absolutely not fair. Few character generation options especially hair styles. Therefore a lot of characters are looking similar. Power balancing
Setting, lore, atmosphere, graphics and aestethics are really good and refreshing. Combat sucks and is really stale, some voice acting is terrible and questing gets boring fast. I've been in for 2 months, havent touched the game in 4 weeks.
I give it a 5, very average and balanced in the good and bad department.
Asking for an open beta reveiw would be more fair, since the CB is an actually beta testing area! Not as it is actually intended ofc, because the long lost art of actually being a propper beta tester is gone and replaced with people who just wanna play the game on a sneakpeak.
Either way, the BWE offers more stable builds, as the CB are filled with bugs, just as intended. Ofc since we are at the mmorpg forums, you wont find alot of people able to grasp this...
Thoroughly enjoy every system I've had the chance of playing with during the betas. Unique and refreshing take on the genre, very different, but I enjoy it. From the setting, the skill system, pretty much all of it. Performance is great, enjoy the visuals. Audio is pretty nice, too, and the cutscenes actually hold my attention, so no complaints there.
Character creation is a little lacking, and of course, the animations are somewhat stiff. But the animations definitely aren't a gamebreaker to me, and most of the time I don't really mess around with character creation. I focus on the skin tone, hair style and color, and accessories most of the time. Never mess to much with anything else. Obviously more options there would be nice, but not a gamebreaker for me.
I think the game has a lot going for it at this point and that it has room for lots of expansion and refinement in time. I haven't jumped into PvP yet but I plan to before the beta weekend is over. I have many been focused on the PvE side and have gotten through most of the content in kingsmouth and the savage coast.
The honest truth about the game, is it is still very rough around the edges in a few areas. The animations still need lots of work, I have seen tons of problems with them like abilities activating and doing damage but not showing up on screen. I have seen running animations glitch and freeze up, weapons get stuck in combat positions and the only to fix them is to literally unequip the weapon and requip it. The character models and character customization are also very limited and some NPCs just look downright ugly. There are plenty of clothing options but they really need to implement a better face generation system like more detailed sliders to really create a unique character or we are going to have hundreds of clones running around. The game engine still needs more optimization, I have had quite a few crashes and errors pop up, and also lots of loading while moving through the world which causes frame jittering. The sound also cuts sometimes in combat as well so I think there is still some ways to go but not beyond fixing with some patches.
Great things about the game is mostly the story/world and the atmosphere, both look great and on max settings with DX11 it looks pretty top notch. I would easily say this is one of the best uses for tesellation I have seen in a game of this type, can't think of any MMOs that use it off the top of my head. Just about every texture is affected when its on, the gravel on the sides of the road, the beach sand, and the bricks on buildings are just some of the most noticable ones. There is a pretty good base of clothing and weapon skins available from what I have seen, and the vendor prices have been reduced so it won't be hard to find a unique look that fits in with how you want to express your character in game. Skill system is awesome, the amount of abilities is truly mind blowing even if some of them may end up repeating. Being able to work toward a deck that give you a unique clothing reward or just go your own way is something that I think will keep many people coming back for more.
Overall, solid game but still needs some work before it can truly start to shine.

A solid game with great ideas that needs a bit of polishing. It will certainly not be everyone's cup of tea but I love it.
