Should I believe the claims that beta is very limited, and current animations are only placeholders?
It sounds like a lie I can't find any reason for this.
If this is really for testing, then animations should be tested too right? What's the point hiding them if it will turn out at realease that new ones are crashing the game, or are even more hated by players.
If this is only for marketing not testing then it is even more stupid, since it causes a lot of confusion and negative response. People saying they won't play because of lame animations. Bad reviews about the game because of animations. No one even read official claims that they are placeholders. So it kinda messed up marketing.
So, what's the point of limiting beta? Please explain. I think these were supposed to be final, and when they heard in first beta that these animations suck, they started to do all the little changes they can in this short amount of time, that won't make much difference. But it is just my thought.

Im pretty sure what is there is what will be live. If they change any animations it will probably after release. They already made changes to them since the last beta.
Get a key, try for yourself this weekend.
Opinion is just that, and on this site is usually so biased it is worth ignoring.
They have already entered the new animations the initial issue was that they used the same animations for several skills. Basically they've already said that due to unlocking the top and bottom halves of the pc that animations will not be top notch. There are things limited in beta though they have removed certain missions, etc etc.
At this point I doubt the game will get any major update to the animation. it had improved a bit since the first few betas but imo it's still need some work. something that is missing what most may not have notice is voice over for you character actions exp (swinging a weapon, jumping, getting hit, etc) this may lead to the game feeling robotic.
Overall the game is quite fun despite it's short comings and will be enjoyed by those looking for something different.
Trust me those are permament crappy animations, nothing major is changing in less than a week.
In other words they don't want to take the time to make good animations so they are using that tired excuse expecting people to buy it. I want to enjoy this game but its hard to do when my avatar looks like a hot mess when in combat. They did a good job on the models in AoC why not here? Seriously...
What's wrong with the animations? you can't be serious, these are great animations. Maybe I'm blind, or maybe you are just mentally disturbed and need to turn off your computers?
If you honestly think that those animations are great, you obviously haven't played any video games in the last 5 years.
Just answer my question, what is seriously wrong with the animations? I compare graphics and animations with other MMO's, WOW, Tera, GW2, SWTOR, and I actually find TSW to be the best of them all. I think everyone agrees with that unless they have a special agenda against funcom. Or maybe the next stop for you is a psychiatrist.

They don't look natural. Ever heard of uncanny valley? Look it up.
If you honestly compared TSW's graphics to GW2 and TERA and still believe that TSW's are better, you are the one who needs to see a psychiatrist.

Why did I just log in and go to create a character only to find that all the cool clothing had been taken OUT of character creation to be left with the wardrobe from an episode of the Big Bang Theory?

My God the graphics are painful, absolutely painful. Did you see the character creation screen for the women, absolutely dreadful.
Apparently they removed some of the cooler clothing options in order to add them to the London store. And also, if you can make a decent looking character from the start, how are they going to sell you the clothing in the cash shop?
I can partially understand that.
But I think cash shop items should be like Hats / Belts / Glasses / Backpacks... Accessories like that. Of course, I get the feeling that TSW's characters don't have like.... any available slots for those kinds of items, except glasses is obviously in already.
But of course, its THEIR game. I'd buy the good stuff if I had to... sigh....
overall graphics are fine and in some areas quite impressive.. just models really need work especially the females

bullshit, I prefer the TSW's graphics.
Character graphics or world graphics? TSW does have nice world graphics, character graphics and animations are horrible though.
Maybe you will be able to buy better animations from the cash shop from the game you just paid box price for and a monthly fee on top of that. Would be a win for Funcom, if thats what keeping some people from playing.
Played the beta. Regarding animations and character models...This game doesn't look like it was made in 2012.
It's a shame really. The world looks fantastic on DX 11 max settings, great lighting and particle effects. And then all the atmosphere and immersion that is created by those graphics is ruined by the character models and animations.
Maybe it's just me but every time I effortlessly vault 20ft in the air over a fence, or wave my sword in a zombie's face without conviction I know I'm playing a game and am not in any way connected to my character in the game world.
The character models and animations are awful.
The graphics are DX11 detailed, but they animate so poorly the game looks like it was made by a group of friends in their garage for a couple of hundred dollars.
If the game releases like this it will be a total flop - it's seriously one of the worst, most cheap-looking games of the last couple of years.
So would stick figures be. For their purpose of course.
