Rumor - EME to take over Eu-Tera ?

KumaponKumapon Member EpicPosts: 1,605

There have been numerous rumors coming out of Korea that BHS is very unhappy with the way Frogster has been handling Eu-Tera. Tera isn't doing very well in Korea, so the last thing they need is a bad publisher ruining their game overseas.

But most of these were just rumors until today, Senior Producer Brain Knox said in a interview with Reddit...

Is EME ever going to branch out to the EU?

[–]knoxxer[S] 2 points 8 hours ago
That is our plan, when it happens is still TBD. Our focus is making sure TERA is as good as can be.

This comment he made only puts full to the fire, about those rumors. Do you think this is really gonna happen ?

i didnt want to say this but ill just go ahead. I do believe that TERA is not doing well in Korea because the gameplay (aside form the visuals) is too asianish to have a subscription. Asian community prefers F2P models and TERA is fully eastern with a western payment model. I say western payment model because western developers prefer subscriptions but they actually make western looking games. TERA has zero western feel so its hard to pay a sub for taht when you can get a game with the same gameplay and feel and look for free. For example, add a sub to a full asian mmo like the ones made by Perfect World, the game would do terrible even if they add action combat and better graphics.

Thats just the reason i see why TERAs not doing weel in asia.

EDIT: i hope someday to see TERA F2P so i can go back to it also

I think at this point they really need to.

    South Korea: 37 > 35 > 15 > 13 > 4

Japan: 10 > 3 (Although they are working with the capacity of 1 server basically)

    That leaves NA and EU.

While the NA PVE side is probably hurting somewhat, I think the PVP side is doing fairly well. EME (for the most part) has done a pretty good job. Frogster on the other hand has not. The recent posts from the European forums, as well as some recent ones posted on the NA forums have shown the utter frustration the customers currently have with Frogster.

South Korea and Japan are probably making anywhere from just above the breaking even point to just decent amounts in revenue considering how the game took a nosedive in under a year and a half.

If BHS wants to save the European population, they will need to act fast within the next couple of months to make the transition. If they keep Frogster until the end of the year I would not doubt that they too would have to merge down to 2 servers like Japan.

Im a TERA player. Whats more, is that I first bought and played the NA version. Its just recently that I picked up the EU version and started playing that (mostly due to ping). The game is ofc pretty similar between the versions, but here are a couple of differences:

    - When I downloaded the NA version, I got full download speed (1.1mb). Downloading EU gave me 0.2-0.4mb and took about 24 hours.

    - When submitting a ticket to EME I got a personal response (not copy paste) within 24 hours. I submitted a ticket to Frogster 4 days ago, and I still havent gotten a reply (not even copy paste).

    - The forums and websites of the two versions are pretty much night and day. The NA version is 10 times more pleasing to the eye, and the front page is updated regularly. This is not true of the EU version.

    - When buying TERA I actually didnt know that I bought the NA version only. The kinda need to label them better.

    - When killing a mob you get blood splatter on your screen on the NA version. This is not in the EU version. TBH I hardly notice the difference.

    - I get insta-ques for dungeons on my lancer in the NA version. Even during prime time EU that isnt always the case. There seems to be a big problem with low player base in EU.

    - The collectors edition versions are different. In NA you also get weapon skin, but in EU you only get the lion and a necklace. The EU CE is more expensive due to euro conversion rate over USD to norwegian kroner.

The only two reasons I wanted to move to the EU version was a) ping and b) population during NA off-times (my own prime time living in eu). I am contemplating moving back simply because of the way Frogster has handled the game.

Your comment is totally irrelevant to the thread topic I'm afraid (was meant for the second comment).

Not that the topic itself isn't much of a wishful thinking.

Unfortunately, for whatever reason, Tera EU is weeks behind in getting the updates Tera US is getting. I don't know if it's EN Masse's fault for publishing updates and fixes right away without waiting for possible translations for EU, or it's just Frogster trying to change the game even further (to keep the ludicrous Pegi 12) or taking ages to translate stuff.

This is Warhammer EU all over again. A substandard service for the EU in comparison to the US, that has a severe effect on subscriptions overall. Personally, I've cancelled my subscription and will be moving to alternative mmorpgs. It's sad really, because the game is still fun, but not under these conditions.

I follow every forum for TERA so I know most of what is going on and while EME might not be the best(changing things without consulting the playerbase), they have the greatest customer support(although they don't always understand what powers they do/don't have, for example i've had one say they can't award me game time when I asked because of an issue and another that OFFERED me game time after he FIXED my issue).

TERA EU under Frogster has awful customer support, poor communication, buggy servers, they are behind 3 patches and missing content and that's just the start. TERA EU apparently has bots as well.(NA has very few, i've personally never seen one but heard about it rarely), NA has no gold spammers either, not sure about EU.

    Hopefully EME saves TERA EU.

This game is really far away from salvation since it's design flawed.

And when, during CBT, me and my guys decided to stick to NA version despite we being EU (tried both), we were called all sort of names and even a plain recruitment post  (on a fansite, not official eu forum) started drama and has been flamed.

Will I see a day when people will be objective, forget the marketing stunts, try the products, make an informed choice and actually HELP the market - instead of flaming someone and go to the extent of calling him anti-patriotic (LOL!) for playing on a better server with better customer service?

Gee... the original publisher will *always* provide a better service than some cheap-a$$ 3rd-party.. why is it so hard to understand/believe?

Hope EME will do that, and allow transfers so players can merge communities as they see fit

I dunno I say make it F2P with a decent cash shop no B2W stuff.. think it would do a ton better this way. Game feels like a very polished F2P game. Probably would get a lot more people and probably make a ton more money by doing this.

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

oops, my bad... after i saw the OPs link i thought he was talking about Tera in Korea instead of EU.... my post is only my reason about korea which i heard its also doing terrible there. But yeah, IF EnMasse takes over EU Tera it would be better for EU
