Anyone still tempted to buy the lifetime sub?

I think F2P is already built into TSW and see it going that way in 12 months.  I like the idea of lifetime subs since you can pay for 14 months and get to play forever.  Funcom has also shown it will keep its games running for a long time, just look at AO.  Getting free points each month forever when it goes F2P is also a nice feature.  At $200, I think the lifetime is a very tempting offer if you played the beta and seem to like the game.  Even if you only play for 4 months out of each year it would pay for itself in less than 4 years.

I also see MMO's moving to a move costly sub model in the future.  When you compare the $15 a month to other entertainment like going to the movies or going out to eat, the amount of enjoyment you get from MMO's is a great value.  They have been $15 a month for many years and a price increase to $20 a month is coming sometime in the next few years.  Jumping in now on a lifetime at this cost doesnt look so bad when you think about whats coming.

"Sean (Murray) saying MP will be in the game is not remotely close to evidence that at the point of purchase people thought there was MP in the game."  - SEANMCAD

    That's hilarious.

Who or what do you think you are? Some kind of millionaire walking into a Ferrari dealership? Like you can say "screw you, I'm taking my 500,000 and going to Lambourghini because you made me mad!!!".

    Lol.

You do know you lose all credibility when you make such ridiculous statements, don't you???

CoH offered a limited number of lifetime accounts, and when that number was reached they pulled it.  CoH didn't go free to play until a little over 5 years later!  Lotro lifers also took advantage for many years before Lotro went f2p.  Every title I have spent  years playing offered a lifer account and didn't go f2p until at least 3 years later.

No, I dont think so. If you think something that last 3 years can be considered a lifetime service you are rediculos.

Its a matter of principle. If I buy a lifetime service I demand a lifetime service. I will accept nothing less. It will make no difference what excuses they have. If they after 3 years tell me they no longer offer that service I will call it fraud. Because it is... It makes no difference if they have new owners, use a different business model or whatever reasons they claim they have. I would just tell them I am entitled to the service and that they are forced to give it to me. And if they refuse I would perhaps call a lawyer.

It could be any product or service. As a consumer you have rights. You should stand up for that and never accept "bait and switch", false advertizing or broken promises in general.

Funcom is not like most companies. You are very optimistic if you believe a lifetime sub that you buy from them will last 3 years or more. If the game is not F2P after 12 months I woul be very surprised.
