The whole xpac is aimed at the Asian demographic and features panda-people, drunken-boxing panda-people.
I can see Chinese reviews right now saying, "oh, this is what they think of us". It's cliche to the point of stereotyping.

But i fully agree, it might be filled with stereotypes and cliche's. But a little suprised about the issue...
I never tought panda's would be the problem-might be becuase i have seen an army of people call this Kung-Fu Panda expansion, and im now beyond the point of caring about the pandas anymore... I was worried that it was something else In-Game.
I hope that there is something in this expansion that saves it's from becoming another China Crisis for Blizzard (referring to WoTLK and it censoring). Altough it might be too late already

I'm not really a fan of housing purely for decoration purpose. I prefer a player city system like SWG had, so that it also actually has practical use. EQ2, LOTRO, Anarchy Online, Vanguard all provided housing that I got bored with very fast,
You shouldn't worry about million of chinese players, i am pretty sure they are not as close minded as you are. WOW wasn't the first MMO to bring an expansion with asian theme and won't be the last.

Is the Panda expansion for WoW going to be released in China ?
Only reason I ask is because, from what I read at the time, the reason GW1 opted to not include Pandas as pets (and part ofhte reason the Panda minipet ended up being so very rare) was Chinese laws against depicting violence against Pandas, even in games.
Oh, and for what its worth I found that America crapping link to be hilarious.

Why do I need one?
What immersion does it give me into the game?
I want the mechanics working well in the game and the visuals up to date before housing. I just don't get why people are hung up on housing.

Sure its a gold sink...But...
Housing works to cosmeticly show off trophies you have earned (like Dragon heads or the sworrd of an arch enemy) and just to creativly make it look cool.
Housing is GREAT as a Shop to sell your wares and avoid the AH tax (and then people come to your house to trade and see how awesome you have made it look) you can usually get an in game NPC or apparatis to do the direct sales when you are offline.
Housing is great for craftersw who can purchase superior crafting equiptment.
And its fun... For many anyhow. Those who like to build in a game and not just destroy (but still want a game )

In GW1 you have titles you can show - showing a trophy in a house? I don't do it in real life why would I do it in game?
