I see what you are saying.. oh also AoC didn't have great CC it was ok but was still better than what we got in this game.
Perhaps it was AO? I never ever played AO at all and briefly played AoC. I can't remember what the character creator in that game was like but a lot of people have praise for it. Maybe they consider it good, or maybe they, like you, consider it better than TSW's?
I don't know about the last two games, but I do know what everyone else does: TSW's is pretty lackluster.

Insightful! I played the cbt since March, and spent til early may running around with a bald character because all/most characters were losing their hair due to some glitch.
After that, everyone was just a different hairstyle sticking out of the same trench coat til they offered different colors of trench coats.
Because trench coats are awesome.
Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug. 12 Million People have been meter spammed in heroics.
Ragnar specifically say Pax, which is the in-game currency.
As far as "now just doing something about it" that someone else posted.. it isn't just out of the blue. He's been talking and discussing options on the closesd beta forum for at least the last month.
It takes time to design something otherwise you get a lump of crap. At least they're putting time into thinking about it and it's going to be out extremely soon after release.
I would call that listening to their customers. It took Bioware MONTHS after release just to acknowledge issues people brought up back in beta.
That CC seems to come up wherever TSW is being discussed on the net and that it's not just a "handful" of people whining about it suggests to me that it's not something that should be dismissed as the blabber of haters who will never be happy but something that is actually negatively affecting some people's experience with the game.
Thankfully, it SEEMS Funcom gets this enough to make it a priority, but we'll see. Words are wind and promises are broken on a regular basis in this industry.
CC is the first time you, as a developer turn over control to the player, and it should be important to you that the player has a positive experience with it. For better or worse, that first impression will impact how players perceive the game going forward. That's something that should have registered with the dev's much sooner than it did IMO.
I fail to see how this is a "NEW" CC though, unless they aim to have modifications that can only be found in the "barbershop" ala WoW.
A new CC would be a reworked and more user friendly one with a lot more options and tweaks, not just a tacked on barbershop (litteraly if you play templar)
I was pretty happy with the CC as it was... I mean common it's 10X better than wow or SW:ToR combined. Funny thing is I did hear quite a few ppl complain about the CC's in those games, but not as much as I have heard in this game. Hell I'm wanting to create myself and I'm balding lol, thanks granddad... so I'm not a stickler for hair styles. But way to go Funcom, thanks for actually listening I feel that finally after 10 years, I'm actually going to find a game I can enjoy for more than a month or so.
