Can't sell gems directly to Arenanet, only to other players.

Also, you could just log into the game 6 months after release, go straight to Structured PvP and have the best gear without buying a single gem!  There.  I saved you some money. :)

Also, you can't buy everything with gold.  It's true.  :(

Not to mention if you spent enough money to buy enough crafting materials to level to 80 without playing, i figure anybody who is going to throw out a couple thousand dollars to reach max level probably deserves a medal in real life for dedication to being lazy.

Not anything a person can't do just by playing the game normally. :)

So far as we know right now the best gear come from, dungeons and karma vendors. You can't get either from gold.

Thanks!!! Glad to c people not jumping on a "Haters vs Fanboys Vagone"

P.S new to this forum. And lots of topics just get flooded by either one or another.

There's absolutely no sub, but you can spend gems on anything at all that they have in the cash shop.

Cosmetic stuff, account things (Like character transfer, more character slots), and convenience (more bank space, xp boosters, though honestly, worst planned out xp boosters ever since they're not really neccessary).

Since you can't buy anything more powerfull with real money. No its not P2W. Who cares if you can get a lot of gold through buying gems. Its not like you need much gold for anything in the game.

And the gold to buy the gems still has to come from players who farmed it. So there is no inflation of gold whatsoever. The gold just travels from person A -> B.

If it were P2W the gold would travel from  infinite cash shop supply -> players.

    So No.

It's not just you OP. GW2's cash shop sells power, and gems for gold. Is it pay for "I win button?" No it's not. It is pay for power though no matter how you spin it.

If trading gems for gold is "pay to win", then is trading gold for gems "get paid to lose"?  Because all that they do is to redistribute gold (and things you can buy for gold) among the playerbase, not create new gear.

Most likely, the game won't have that great of a dependence on gear.  Guild Wars 1 sure didn't.

Please tell me what "power" is? You said it is in the gem store, Come one, go.

Anything that makes you more capable. Things like gems ---> gold ----> gear.

Will it be game breaking? No I don't think so. Is it selling of power? Yes it is.

ohhh you buy the best gear? the gear anyone can easy craft?

you can even reach max lvl with only craft, so if you have lot of money you can buy lot of resources and reach lvl80 very quick. what money dont give you is skills, you will be dizimated on sPvP, well you will suck anywhere, on dungeons WvW...

so if for you win is reach max lvl yes, is a P2W shop, if for you win is play great and kill other players on PvP sorry but you cant buy anything to help you

How are things going with the cash shop over at TSW ? What are the folks saying about the last 25% of content in the game now that some of them have past the 75% mark ? Do you think more folks will be posting on this form later this week when they have completed the TSW content ?

So by his definition WvWvW is P2W in GW2.

The person who uses money can buy more defenses and weapons.

I'm finding it very entertaining to see the same 9-10 posters in every GW2 thread bashing it, throwing around the term "fanboi" at anyone who likes anything about the game. Perhaps they need a cool name of their own...like "trollboi" or "angryforumtrollboi" IDK, just noticing a pattern.

I think people spend way too much time worrying about what other people are going to do, and not enough time focused on what they themselves will do for fun in a given game. For example people who have 20-40+ hours a week to devote to gaming are crying that it's not fair that someone with 5-10 hours a week will be able to have the same things they have because they might be able to buy some of them in a cash shop....you know what's really unfair? That anyone should have 20-40+ hours a week to devote to gaming, that's unfair, and I'm jealous :)

Anyway, my point is just play the game for yourself. If you can't find a way to have fun because you're worried about all the "casuals" then I suggest you seek some help. Just play!
