At least I do remember playing it on PC, and stopping mainly because I got annoyed at bad localization, the PC version still told you to press playstation buttons on the text, which annoyed me to no end on a mini game where you were supposed to disguise as a soldier and push buttons they told you in order to follow their actions in a parade or something like that, don't remember much.
What can men do against such reckless hate?

They already officially announced that there would NOT be a remake of ffvII until they made another ff game that did better then ffvII did. They went on in saying that if they did make a remake now it would be the end of the ff series of games. Sorry i dont have the reference link for this info but im to lazty to go through IGN news from acouple weeks ago

Dude, its a wishful thinking. I think anyone whos a final fantasy fan knows that they won't remake ff7 and I heard the news few years back. They can totally milk people by remaking ff7 and ff8.
Need a remake, FF7 has been on PC for years........update with all dem fancy graphics, and new flashy CG....I would re buy it, it's the best Final Fantasy I ever played (not including Tactics which is too awesome to describe).
The original version on the PC was buggy as hell. There has been people screaming for it to get a proper port to PC for a long time, i for one would definately give it a play through as my old PS1 does not work and it has been a long time since i ran through this game.
Seems to be a port only so crap graphics (and probably all those annoying loading screens)

Yes, It was on PC before. I have it as well. However it was so buggy it was almost unplayable nor will it play on any modern PC anymore. As someone else said they already said they would NOT be making an HD version. This is the next best thing. A properly playable PC version. For fans of the game that do not have a PS3 its good news.

Back when Eidos was running of the success of the original TRs, Thief and Deus Ex 1, they published (ported?) FF7 for the pc. This is just a re-release really.
Still my favorite FF ever however.

Yes, it was on PC a long, long time ago that never worked properly nor would it work on todays PC's. I know this because I have it and it hasnt worked at all since windows XP.

LMAO Op, yes this is awesome but I agree this makes the wait for something amazing much more bearable.
And to all your folks who just have no idea what you are talking about. Yes it came out ported for PC back in the day, Windows 95/98 to be exact. When XP came out it didnt work til someone made a 3rd party patch. Since XP it has not worked on Vista or 7, or 8. So now they are rereleasing it, with fixed code so and i believe(dont quote me on this) better Resolution choices. no more 640x480 lol. Also FFVII is the greatest Final Fantasy of ALL time with the hugest of any FF game fan base. Graphics dont matter the game was freaking amazing and fun, and it still looks better than Minecraft and most F2P mmo's lol.
So a rerelease is a great idea, especially for people who just want to play and love it again, and even for those who never had, it gives them a chance. Young whipper snappers can now see what a real FF game is like!
im a HUGE ff7 fan but i wouldnt bother with it unless the graphics got updated on it.

Well yeah FF7 was on PC a loooong way ago. But with the new graphic cards it was impossible to play that and FF8 without a patch. I think ff8 you still can't I am not very sure.
Anyway it's always nice to kill 20mins of your time waiting for knights of the round to finish :P
I bought FFVII for the PC back in 1998 because the cut scenes intrigued me. But when the movie was over, the game dropped you into a turn based chibi world. I hadn’t played a FF before this so I wasn’t expecting this. I stopped playing after the first battle, and went back to playing either Starcraft or Warcraft. At the time I saw Real Time as cutting edge. Turn based reminded me too much of Pool of Radiance (‘88), and felt like a step back. I am not trying to knock the game, I’ve always wondered what I missed by not playing it to completion.

[mod edit], ff7 has been on the pc for years and years already, Since 1998 or so.. what rock have you been living under? Most of the player modded versions of the current ff7 pc look much MUCH better than the new version they are releasing.

They aren;t improving the graphics or anything from what I heard. SO you may as well get the 1998 version and just get the playermade mod that massivly improves the games look.
Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:
A. Proven right (if something bad happens)
or
B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)
Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!
WOW they didn't even significantly update the graphics AND, if they are really adding achievements this would actually be pathetic.
However, if they are updating the graphics, adding a little more content or other real features this would be badass.
Since it's only being re-released with the no graphical upgrades or anything, this is an absolutely pointless purchase for me as I still have FF7 for the PS1 and have beaten it start to finish like 5-10 times over the years. No better game to re-release if they need a quick cash grab, though.
