PVP and PVE; are they bot combined?

Just wondering, when playing pve, will i still encounter ememy players? (such as the way WOW works; you roam around pve but still encounter player enemies)

No, not how it works.

WvWvW is kinda like that, but you're probably going to be in a group.

PvE and PvP are separated and WvWvW is a kind of a mix of both where you can be ganked.

It's not the case ...but you can stand on a bridge and fish if you want or stand on a mailbox and dance
