Whelp, I've been converted after waching a few more videos and really wanna give the full game a shot. I have a character concept in mind I can try, (hint: its me with a shotgun killing sinister things). I loved SWTOR my self, but it got to be really dull and the populations just plummeted one day so I am overly cautious of new mmos
i found every once in awhile it won't save my equipment when swapping builds but if i recreate that build and save it again it will swap properly.. I dunno why I put in a bug report for that
I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

I think I found what happens with the gear manager.
So, you set up a gear slot with your AOE moves.
A couple gear upgrades later, you create your single target build.
You switch to your AOE build, and your "upgraded" slots are now empty.
I think that when you swap builds, the game first un-equipes your currently worn talismans and weapons, then puts on the ones from the gear manager. If those pieces aren't available (I assume you disassemble old gear, I do) then they are empty.
I think an easy fix would be to have a part of the code that says "if the requested gear is not available, use what is already equipped"

not really what happens to me because I was using the exact same gear no upgrades at all.. I would setup two builds one AOE one single and then when switching between them only one of them actually saved the gear loadout. But if I deleted one of them then remade it, it started switching again I dunno why.

I dont like game that force you to kite to kill mobs.
you don't have to kite at all just is more efficient and less boring with this build.. I'm also not using melee here I'm using two ranged weapons.. You use two melee and some tanking gear and you can stand toe to toe with stuff if you please
this is true. I am Hammer/Chaos tank and I just stand there an hit (except for dodging the big attacks). Careful going Chaos though....not that many ranged attacks....it's a very "in-your-face" magic
I dont like game that force you to kite to kill mobs.
if you have to "kite" mobs, then there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with your build
not really just depends on the build my single target build is actually more focused on kiting since I have no defense or heals with it.. I have two roots and a slow and rely on that and big DPS to put things down. Not so much kiting though(since I don't usually have to run away) as managing crowd control but similar idea.

No, actually there is. People who kite regular mobs are A) not at the QL they should be, dont have the right synergy with actives/passives, C) are trying to run a quest that clearly states "devastating" on it which underlines the plays lack of appropriate gear to complete, or D) have specced wrong overall.

So standing still like a dummy soaking up damage is the way to go?

not true you can design builds based on kiting(or not getting hit if you will) if you please.. if you don't see that then you don't understand the skill system that well. I explained my build above. You build what you want ot play thats the basis of the entire skill wheel

Very nice video. Definitely shows the difference changing skills can make in combat to match different situations.
Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.
