So I'm looking to build a gaming PC but I was wondering what difference does a motherboard make - other than the obvious stuff such as quality of components used and the slots it has. Is there a certain factor I should be looking for or does it really matter?
Thanks in advance.

I'd recommend reading this article: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/04/03/hard-choices-motherboards/
Written explicity for the non-tech savvy gamer, and quite recently at that, it should provide some valuable input.
The difference is mostly feature set, reliability, form factor, and overclocking capabilities.
Thanks for the help guys!
