It has struck the community like a lightning bolt when Climax and Games Workshop announced the discontinuation of their Warhammer based game beginning of september. Doomed to dwell in the ranks of games like Microsoft's Mythica and Codemasters' Dragon Empires, Warhammer Online should never see the light of day.
But today it seems that Climax has not dropped the development. UK based PC Zone has published a news bit titled "Warhammer Online exhumed" stating that "Climax CEO Karl Jeffrey has now revealed that the company hopes to launch the title in around 18 months time."

qoute/17:20 Namco is to step forth into the world of Warhammer, announcing that it's signed a long term deal with Games Workshop to create games based on the popular Warhammer fantasy universe made famous by Games Workshop's table-top game of the same name.
Under the deal, Namco will deliver multiple games for the PC and also bring versions of titles to future consoles and handhelds.
No Warhammer titles were mentioned in the announcement, but it's possible that UK developer Climax's MMORPG Warhammer Online will now fall under the Namco banner. Unfortunately Climax remained unavailable for comment at the time of writing, so for now that's little more than a slice of speculation to chew on.

qoute/Now, Namco Hometek is betting that the market is ripe for another Warhammer game. Today, the Japan-based publisher announced it had acquired the Warhammer rights from Games Workshop. According to a statement released by the two companies, "the exclusive, long-term deal will allow Namco to publish multiple games for the PC and also allows for future console and handheld gaming versions [of Warhammer]."
Contrary to previous reports, the Namco-Games Workshop agreement does not involve Warhammer Online, the Climax-developed massively multiplayer online role-playing game that was officially canceled last spring--only to be unofficially resurrected several months later. "We don't know what's going on with that," a Namco rep told GameSpot. "This is a separate deal."
