I find rifles have good heal abillity through leach affects but the pistolas? Have you seen the animations for that class. If I never see another spinning pistol attack it will be well apreciated. I would suggest first thing is look over the skill wheel to find what you are looking for it is probably there in some form and another etc....
Pistol/ Fist works well for healing, even at endgame, but more useful as a 2nd healer for lairs (and later, raids) because you'll have a lot of AoE heals, but pistols have some buffs that are amazing like the group crit buff. Win-win is a great combined AoE heal with cleanse, support drone is damn fine to help primary healer out on the main tank and healing drone is a good consumer also.
I'll have to see end game to determine the usefulness of some support weapons like pistol. When leveling it is a very frustrating skill set. The problem with it (and others like AR and fist but to a lesser degree) is that if you aren't geared for healing it is a very subpar weapon. It does some of the lowest damage, has no mitigation, the least useful weakness debuff in pve open world play and has a limited range which hinders pairing it with long range powers.
I was actually shocked to see that tank weapon skills did far more damage and benefit greatly by simply gearing dps and having inherent mitigation built in where with support it is impossible to make the healing worthwhile without mitigation.
To me it is something to consider far later but not for "leveling". Now dispite this I love Blood as it at least has some serious damage options but I now pair it with Chaos (odd pairing mechanic wise but with proper bridging I am loving it). Hell shogun worked so much better than pistol (much higher damage and has mitigation) but I simply hated the concept for my character and dropped it.
My main concern is that some support weapons will only ever be useful combined with a more pure healing second or just as utility to a primary dps set. Sort of an in-between power with no primary use.
It has some good group buffs and healing buffs, but little innate healing. You have to pair it up with one of the healing weapons: Assault Rifle, Fists or Blood Magic.
The DPS of pistols is not low at all according to what I am seeing (doing a Pistols/Elemental build) and I really do crit a lot, so getting some passives that boost crits and does additional damage on crit works out nicely.
Assualt Riffle / Fist is the way to go for healing. Pistol and Blood are more defensive / support / shields
Blood is by far the strongest heal spec in my opinion. I just did the 3 dungeons on Nightmare mode without issues as the only healer using just Blood. The barriers absorb more than the Fist heals for over time (it shouldn't, but it does) and nearly every barrier has a built in direct heal too.
Pistols are a support spec though, you can't keep people alive with just pistols.
Pistol is alright, haven't had much trouble using it and blood to solo while still being a healer.
Only thing I see is that I'm using more blood active skills over Pistol anymore. I use to use the two Drones to heal but now I'm starting to drop them off for blood abilities. I may still keep the one that boosts my shields on the defensive target, but for now it's just the passives I'm after now in pistol.
Shotgun was my other thought just for it's damage reduction turrets but I went for the support drones to help heal.
Was going to either go after Fists for maybe a regen, but I may just mess around with Shotgun and have a drone/turret party.
You have to keep in mind what you consider to be cool weapons too I'd like to be a dps/crit, but also a bit of a healer. I think pistols rock, and I also want to do some magic.
Therefore, I'm going for pistols and blood magic!!!!
Pistol comes with support skills, granted that are up high int he outer circle. Pistols support is cleanse. You can cleanse effects off yourself or groupmates or within a targeted area. Yes pistol offers a nominal heal on crit, as well as nominal group heals, were talking in the 10-50 hp a tick range on a proc, nothing to rely on.
Now cleanse would be handy as a healer, less stuff you need to heal through ect. However youll run into a few issues if you go healer/pistol. First is pistols range, its a medium range weapon, youll have to get close, much closer than you would with blood magic and AR for example...not ideal for a healer and the weapons skills offers none of the surviability found in fist as far as a healer spec goes.
It can be done, its not optimal, and youll probably be much needed in groups as a cleans/offheals support. Dont underestimate the importance of cleanses, it makes a noticable difference in pvp especially, when you wont lose teammates who bleed out after the enemies been wiped ect.
Im about to start a support spec since im already pistol/shotgun as a main. I plan on going clense support+ defense buff with turrets and mines at some point...wont be cheap AP wise however.
Pistol is a solid weapon, i can do a decent amount of burst, its got some nice passives, a few are very usefull to a healer looking to crit, or anyone that finds a nominal speed boost useful. Its only downfall is the light inital damage and close range.

I think pistols is more support than healing. Though I believe it has some passives that apply a heal if certain conditions are met.
So you are going to want to pair it with Blood, Fists or Assault Rifle.
Blood is mostly Barriers to prevent damage though it does have a decent heal in the form of one of it's Elite's in Cold-Blooded.
Fists I believe has most of the Hot's though I 'm sure it has few direct heals as well.
AR has AoE's as well as leech attacks.

You stay sassy!
