What do i need with DAoC and all expansions?

I am going to be making a computer and have 600 dollar buget. I am thinking something like this:
3.0 gig CPU--150$
80 gig HD--65$
512 memory85$
case--50$
Ge force V card--80$
fan--10$
Mother Board Asus--80$
Keyboard--50$
Mouse--10$
speakers--30$
monitor--60$
I think this ends up being like 610$
am I over doing this and/or what are the best brands and such. Also are my money estimates correct?

Your estimates seems close.  As for over doing it, that depends.  Recomended is 1.5 gig CPU 1 gig of RAM 128mb vid card that is directx 9.  I look at it this way, if I am going to be spending a bunch of money then I will want it to at least exceed the reocmended specs for the next year or two.

I would suggest if you are gaming that you will want an AMD 64 CPU.  You can find them for around $140-160.

There are a few things that I should mention.  You will be better off with going for 1 gig of RAM if you can afford it, but 512 should be fine.

The monitor I think will cost you more than $60.  The cheapest you will find one unless it is used will be around $100.

You HD will need to go down to 60 GB or you will need to spendabout $20 more.

Keyboard will only run around $20.

My guess is your total cost without taxes will be more likely around $650.  But you will either need to pay taxes or shiping so your total cost will be more like $700.

Hey, I have 3 pc's and run DAoC on them all, 2 are over 1.8 gig and 1 is old and it still runs the game fine ( - a lil lag up in RvR - 30+ people ) the small old 1 is only a 750 mghrtz celeron with 384 sdram :P and a 64mb  pci nvidia graphics card and well -I DO NOT- recomend that- it works for daoc, and I have the Si, Toa, and Catacombs expansions on it, but my other 2 are much beter, but hey the kids get the lil one :P )  as for a nice monitor, I bought ( new 3 months ago ) a 19" Proview moniter for 75.00 at a local office supply store, and see 17-19 " all over for 70 ish, also I bought alot of the parts for my 3rd pc from ebay- u can get some real good deals there ( but remember to do your homework and look close at specs, but I got 3 - 512ddr2700 ram chips  for 1 of my pc's for ( with shipping ) 34.75 each, and a 5600agp 256ddr nvidia asylim card ( with shipping ) for 65.00, both the rams and the graphic card were new ( unopened in factory package ) but you have to be willing to hold a bit to find the right item with just the right seconds left :P

dont know if this helps, but there it is  :D ps i recomend you getting the best you can afford now as who knows where u will go from daoc, and every week things need beter pc's to run them

No you dont. LoL. I played daoc months with 512 ram, it ran great. Then when i upgraded to 1gig the load times became faster.

So if you want to save money, go 512, but if you want a gaming rig, go 1 gig

512 is what you "need" but if you can do it you will want 1 gig.  It will help out a lot in RvR and make the game run overall smoother and quicker.

As for the cost it depends on how you are going to buy it and the brand.  You can buy it as 2 512 or 1 1 gig.  I would say anywhere between $120-200.

If money is a problem and you are building a computer, get get the 512 now.  You can always add another 512 later.

What I have always done before buying a computer is go to a software store and examine various game packages for minimum and recommended system requirements.  If you're interested in playing online MMOs, then you'll want to get close to or exceed recommended system requirements for the majority of them, because future expansions will most likely push the requirements higher.

While 512K ram will allow you to play most games, for improved performance, you might want to consider 1GB, especially if you have to sacrifice on the video card side.  It's all a game of push and pull when putting your components together.  For instance, sound isn't very important to me, so I'll most likely skimp on audio card and speakers and go for a better video card or more ram.

Checking out the newest game reqs, however, is your best bet in putting together a new system that is most likely to run current software well.
