Guild Wars 2 rewards from original Guild Wars question.

Hello everyone, I just joined mmorpg.com even though I have been reading these forums for years as guest.
Last week I bought the Guild Wars Complete Collection and I'm liking the game so far but being casual player and playing FFXIV at same time it will take me awhile to achieve what's needed for Guild Wars 2 reward so when it releases if I continue playing the 1st one will I still be able to get rewards or once its released it doesn't count?
Just to add bought GW2 last night and linked it to my GW account.

You'll be able to go back anytime to GW1 and work on achievements.
