I'll be playing an engineer, most likely a Norn or Human, since I'm not overly impressed with the other races.  I'll mostly be just checking out the PvE content and go exploring, since world environment is very important for me in how I view an MMO.  Want to see if the DEs are all they're cracked up to be or just repackaged quest chains.

Not sure if I'm really looking forward to anything in particular, since I won't have a lot of time to play, nor does anything look overwhelmingly amazing to me from videos I've seen with the exception of the cities--those look awesome.  I'm mainly hoping to decide whether the game is good enough for me to spend money on.  I'm not sure if 8-10 hours of play time will be enough to give an accurate idea of that, but I guess I'll find out.

I assume this is your first time playing? I hope you know enough to distinguish between hearts quests and dynamic events. Wouldn't want to be the nth person around here to be wrong about it.

Yup, first time.  And yeah, just from reading people's reviews and watching some vids I know about the heart quests and DEs.  :)  My goal is to stick primarily to DEs and exploration as much as possible, since that's the feedback I've gotten from those that had the most fun playing.  I'm going to test ArenaNet's claims that this is a game where you can truly roam around and get yourself into shenanigans as opposed to hopping from quest to quest.  If you can, the game will definitely rate higher for me in my eyes.

Maybe this, I have not done much pvp either. I am not sure I like the idea of jumping in an being levelled to max, but at the end of the day I don't have to. Maybe after unlocking most stuff through pve. This weekend I'm playing as part of a guild, that will be interesting, I think they plan some WvW.

I think it's safe to say "the majority" of those who regularly frequent MMORPG.com as logged-in memebers are going to be playing GW2 at some point this weekend.

    Very cool!

Hopefully we'll have a lot less hate based on lies/misconceptions and a lot less hype based purely on hype rather than game play experiences.

Both of which the GW2 boards could use a whole lot less of.

No me and my guild Decisive Action will absolutely not be playing this weekend and especially not on the Gate of Madness server. So we will not see you at all this weekend. ; P

Yes, and I'm probably gonna make a Sylvari Ranger, but will log onto my Elementalist for WvWvW/More wandering around the level 25-35 area between Lions Arch and Queensdale. I might make an Asura Engi just to check it out...but yeah.

Really now? I haven't looked into if they're wiping the characters or not, I figured they would do it after this BWE, not before.  Hopefully I can,  but I don't necessarily care if they do.

They did wipe all toons from previous tests.

They consolidated servers and increased caps, and they want to simulate a "soft launch" of having thousands of people in the starting zones.

    Sorry, no elementalist for you!

No, because I dont want to burnout on it before release :)

Here's another simple question, and since I don't see the reason to make a completely new thread for this, i'll ask it in this one. What are you doing while you wait for the Guild Wars 2 BWE to start? Me personally, i'm alt-tabbing between this website, YouTube, and Minecraft.

I'm going to head out fishing for a while with my son.  Should get home just in time to hit the servers.

voted no as i will never play this game for many reasons but i will be playing TSW and a alpha beta of a upcomming mmo which i cant name

  • Lazarus71Lazarus71 Member UncommonPosts: 1,081

I played in the last BWE and really enjoyed the game. I had decided on purchasing the game so I told myslef I was not going to participate in any more BWEs so that the game would have a fresher feeling to me when I play at launch...... well I know have the client downloaded and am waiting for the beta weekend to start, lol so mission failed.

No -   If I game at all, it will be TSW

TSW seems to be the game of choice for people who say they are not playing GW2 this weekend in BWE3.

Is this a sign of TSW having some staying power in the genre?

Is it just that TSW is new and shiny and will fade like every other themepark sub-based game?

Time will tell, hope ya'll have fun in the Secret World!

  • KotabearKotabear Member Posts: 13

So far played the thief, ranger, guardian; now i'm gonna try out the necro slyvari style hehe

  • ReizlaReizla Member RarePosts: 4,092

Not gonna play. As in previous CBW's, I'll look at performance on my machine, wander around a bit, but won't actively play. Not to mention, we'll play on a 'clean' server this CBW, and I'm not gonna put a lot of time in a new char (previous CBW char was lvl 5 or so *LOL*).

Also, I'll be at my mom's tomorrow and have a sh!tload of Necrons to paint (Warhammer 40K table-top for the no-knows :p), which I prefer to do over playing a char that won't last for 3 days ;)

I don't think it is an indication of staying power. Only a good sized population 6-12 months later would be the indicator.

Both TSW and GW2 are fairly different and new/shiny for MMORPGs and that will fade just like any game. But, of course, with GW2's design and payment method I suspect it will last longer.

I suspect you are right, however we will never know the actual numbers unless Anet tells us due to the whole no subs thing.

People will point to server populations and Xfire data (lol) just like any game.

  • loulakiloulaki Member UncommonPosts: 944

i am working i might have time late at night and then see the new cities ot just spend time in the Mists

but for those who were able it was their last opportunity to see the game before they decide !

i wonder from those who played, what you believe its ready ? from my laptop and my bad wifi internet i cant judge anything, but the fact that runs great with such conditions is a huge positive !
