The best MMORPG of 2012?

mindw0rkmindw0rk Member UncommonPosts: 1,356

Great year for MMORPG genre. When last time you saw 4 huge AAA titles in one year? But which one of them brought the most? Lets vote and see.

For me it is The Secret World. By far the biggest surprise and the game that brought the faith in genre back.

ps/ for some reason Blade & Soul didnt appear in the poll. Any mod could add it?

Who cares if released.  OP means most anticipated games of 2012.

If TSW was so good, it ought to have atleast more than half of SWTOR's xfire users? Half the players of the stumps of a failed game...

Sometimes numbers do not equal quality. Look at EVE Online

GW2 easily, at least in my book..

I only see 2 games in the running gw2 and tsw but just like the emmy awards sometimes the folks who make these decisions can leave one scratching their head in disbelief..

    Playing GW2..

    Who even uses Xfire? Exactly.

It's a good question. Personally I don't know anyone using it. Also, when I played SWTOR I felt quite often very lonely with only a couple other people on the same planet and that was just after launch. In TSW I run into other people all the time. Haters gonna say now "but but TSW server capacity is only 100 players" or something like that.

Well .. TSW is a great game and has a great population however comparing its population to SWTOR via release, Rift or GW2 is just kinda lame with respect to all the opinions. I am just talking about a server fact, nothing about quality or something.

TSW and GW2 are the two biggie mmos of the year btw.

this is the sort of poll that needs to be held at the end of the year, not in the middle of it, and probably not when some of the games havent yet released, things can happen that can cause delays after all.

and the choices are too limited. personally i vote for Eve Online image

Yet another petty discussion about who "wins".

I really don't understand why people vehemently need to see these games BATTLE IT OUT for supremacy.  Why, can't, you, just, be happy... that there's good games on the damn market?

    None of the above

The best MMO of 2012 has to be the World's greatest adventure

    with undreds of adventures

    Thousands of Foes

    Millions of players online

Runescape: play free now, or sign up for membership for the next 2 months to get 1.1mil xp free!

Does GW2 have all of the above? no, it's not even been released yet,. I can't believe all the hype it's getting. It will fail compared to RS' new Evolution of Combat

    TERA - rubbish game

TW2 - PvP sucks so it's doomed to fail

The Secret World hands down. The art syle and immersion is great in this game. I also liked the skill wheel which I thought was innovative.

Grim Dawn, the next great action rpg!

Data from xfire is only relevant when used to show when hated game x is "failing", when its a game someone likes its irrevelant.

I voted for "None of the Above".  While they're great, none of them are MMOs.  Everyone plays solo player in them...

Edit: People wonder why Diablo 3 is on this site, it's more MMO than anything released in awhile XD

This site continues to produce only the finest examples of how not to poll.

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

I just finished playing the beta of GW2 and came away with a "meh" response.  It offers nothing new to the table and doesn't grab me at all.

On the other hand, TSW grabbed me right away with his atmosphere, attention to detail, memorable characters, and incredible quests and story-telling.

TSW gets my vote.  It's very innovative in alot of aspects and the story, graphics, and acting just can't be touched.
