Should I Play?

in Everquest II
I quit MMO's forever so naturally I want to come back and play agaain image  Played Shadowbane a lot but for personal reasons I refuse to play anymore.  I am looking for a good role playing guild.  Since there is no PvP it would have to be a VERY good RP guild.  I see there's a RP server but any comments on it?  Last RP server I saw about 10 forms of Drizzt in the first few minutes image  Heh any help is appreciated, thx.

    I would think 'should I play' is a question best answered by one's self. No one can really tell you if you'll like or dislike something. Experience is the best teacher. At worse you'll waste about 30 bucks if you don't like it. At best you'll find a cheap form of entertainment that will keep you happy.

    lol ya i know about the Drizzt thing, ive seen Drizzt, Dryzzt, Drzzt, Dryyzt, Drizzzt, and a lot more lol. but seriously, the roleplay can vary a lot. i have a character on antonia bayel (not my main but i have one there anyways) and the rp is pretty good from what ive seen. you can also put up a roleplaying tag so people know u want to roleplay. the amount of roleplaying u get really varies though. ive seen some with the roleplay tag up talking normally but they want to take the game seriously, then ive seen some who take roleplay REALLY seriously and start talking in old english and speaking in third person. it really depends on the person behind the computer as to what kind of RP u get.

    Very true but I was just looking for other peoples experiences before I run out and buy the game.  WoW bores the heck out of me with the very few races and classes they have.  EQ2 seems to be more in depth but no PvP.  But if I can find good RP I think I'll be happy.

    Agreed. Wise words as well. People are just not mature enough to help people who play a "rival game". Hope this thread does not get flamed.

    Best advice I can give you is make sure you have at the very least: A) a 1.5 or greater CPU, B) a gig of DDR ram, C) a Nvidia Geforce 4 class (not mx) or an Ati Radeon 8000 (not LE) class video card

    How are people not "Mature" enough to help someone out?  That doesn't even make any sense....  I don't get it I asked for an opinion of the RP in the game and I get a bunch of gibberish.  If I was apt to just go out and blow 30-40 bucks i wouldn't have asked in the first place.  Maybe I'll just wait and check Mourning out.  I don't have the time to sink into a game like this anyways.

    ROFL, welcome to the mmorpg.com EQ2 forum, where the few sane posters just fight a holding action against bnet =)  Don't let it bother you ... if you fish around the threads you'll find some useful stuff, and the other will become obvious.

    I'd tell you about RP but I don't do it.  Nor, after years of doing this, am I even sure what people mean when they say "RP".  I sure hope "drizzit" isn't it =)

    The trial is free anyway.  Just try it on an RP server and see what things look like.  If you have specific questions, drop by and somebody will try to help you ... you just need to ignore 3/4 responses to get to the useful stuff.  Such is life eh.

    Oh, btw, it doesn't take that much time.  I don't have much anyway, and I do fine.

    I've had good RP experiences, personally on Lucan D'Lere server. Seems at LEAST 50% of people actively role-play, unlike most games RP servers where your lucky to get 10% of people RPing.

    As far as "whats so bad" I'm really not sure...most peoples complaints are completely misinformed or just plain false. Is it a slower paced game? Than WoW, yes...but its much faster than EQ1. Are their bugs? Sure, all MMORPGs have bugs, but EQ2s get fixed every couple weeks. Also, I know many people hate it, but I think its wonderful...SOE is NOT afraid to nerf where necessary to keep things fair or to put things in line with what their SUPPOSED to be.
