lets start by saying that i am a gw player for a long time now, and to set the record  i have  about 6.5k hours on gw.

with that being said, my st point is builds.

i think that one of gw biggest selling point was the amount of builds that you could play with,

when i started playing my 1st toon was a ranger/e with fire storm ^_^, but as time pass you get the know the game better and you start using better builds.

anyhow, over time i started farming and using a 55 monk, and boy did i loved that, not only the fact that i can kill many many mobs by myself, but more the fact that i can found out new builds and new places to farm, you switch a skills, change a 2nd and you have a new playing experience.

now with gw2 with different builds by the 2 weapons type we hold, traits and our utility skills. since we only played 3 bwe so far we cant be sure how will builds works if all....in the end all i am saying is that PVX was created for a reason, people loved to experiment with builds and test new things. and i am not sure if with gw2 we will have that.

2nd thing:

rare items - now i am not talking about anything op or uber, just like gw, i hope wi will have places with rare skins...

I.E UW in gw, in th old days before the z chest and the HOH chest, UW was the only place that you could have got eternal weapons, for the record at the time this was one of the better looking and sought after skin.

atm i am just wondering if we will have those places in gw2, we know that with dungeons you can get rare weapons set, but that is from trader for badges or what not, i am talking about drops with rare skins per secofic zones (mostly elite zones)

i would also like to see this with hard mobs that are located in areas that are difficult to get to.

3rd and most important.

i loved my time in gw for pve, but after a good amount of time. my real love become pvp.

my thing was HOH, pvp there made me the gamer i am toddy, instance pvp in small areas. where movement is everything, and overextending means death.

this has always been a different type of game from gvg, some say less skills are in since AOE can wipe teams (which in gvg is a total fail with all th open space) but imo this was just a different type of game, different set of skills and way to play.

anyhow, with hw2 as far i can see, for now we  have no place for teams to fights others teams on a random basis.

yes we have the tournament with the spvp, but that’s not the same, puging for one of those will most likely fail since the one who set up the event will be with a organized group.

and yes even in HOH the guild group will mostly likely win against any pug, but there is like i said, the randomness factor in there.

HOH was a placed that i lived in while in gw, and i di wish we will have something like this in gw2.

btw wvw is more the enough to keep you pvping for a life time and i will probably spend most my time there in gw2, but none the less if we had something like HOH in gw2, is will be most welcomed addition.

i miss the dual classing of GW1 but Im looking forward to combo skills

admittedly, combo skills require the involvement of other players but should be plenty of experimenting

We will all miss it,  but with the current weapon based mechanics, i dont see how they could have done it.

I hated the dual classing GW1. It made balancing and everything way too complicated. Sure, there are millions of combinations, but it feels pretty silly after a while. You really only stick to a few builds, if that. You are not constantly swapping out skills all the time.

I enjoy GW2 at least 10 times more than the first game. The whole auto-attack and click-to-attack/move is just horrid, I think. I like the control we have over our characters and it feels much more realistic, and less like I am playing a game.

I never played the first GW beyond the trial, and that was a few weeks ago.  Click to move isn't how I like things, so I stopped.

Now, as far as feeling like you're playing a game or not, isn't that the point?  It's game - a distraction from daily life.  Shouldn't it feel like a game?  Maybe I'm just an old fogey, but "back when I was a kid, walking barefooted up a hill both ways in the snow blah blah"...I don't know, I like games seeming like games.  Because, you know, they're games.

since i have not yet to played gw2 beside the events, i wil be playing it non stop, and yes in many many areas gw2 shine over gw.

these are just things i wish to see in gw2 mostly.

as for the dual calls, i agree Izzy got hated because they could never make it right, with all the imba coming and going.

I think a friend of mine tried over a few hundreds builds with his Monk.  Some where pure Monk while others almost where pure Ele or Warrior. So much diversity for those that loved the change.

The fact that you sticked to a few builds doesnt mean others did so too.

    1) Regarding builds. Yes you can't multiclass anymore, but that doesn't mean there isn't a great deal of flexibility. Each profession has dozens of skills. Each weapon has different skills, each combination of weapons has different skills in many cases. Each prof has its own unique class mechanic skill (Adrenaline, Steal, Attunements, Shatter...), peta all have different abilities. There are a ton of utility, healing and elite skills. And then, there's the Trait system, with 5 different lines of traits for each profession. It MIGHT not have the insanely high possible nuber of combinations GW1 did, but you have to admit most of those were probably useless most of the time. GW2 still has a hefty degree of flexibility and power despite that.

    2) Rare Weapons will exist..there's plans for some amazing legendaries that will require spending extra skill points and using the mystic forge. We don't have the details yet but some of them sound pretty impressive.

    3) I can't really answer this because I dislike sPvP, but to the best of my knowledge you can create teams and send them into the mist for team v team matches I thought.

    1) In the end a large portion of the skills were underpowered and rarely used.

You were just trying to find gems amongst the filth.

GW2 skills on the other hand seems to be better designed.

And you still have traits and runes/sigils to add a layer of customization

    2) I hate RNG drops - I might have been running a certain place for ages and never get anything interesting.

Someone else might do it for the first time and get it.

I much rather have  a controlled mechanism - I know if I do this I'll get these many badges or gems and then I can choose my rewards. Just like in DoA.

    3) Players will be able to create their own tournaments and battles by "renting" servers.

    Currently playing: GW2
Going cardboard starter kit: Ticket to ride, Pandemic, Carcassonne, Dominion, 7 Wonders
