Hi,
I am looking forward to the release date of guild wars. I have not played in any of the beta's. The only thing I have seen were screenshots and videos. I have some questions for those of you who played in the beta's.
1. How long does it take for a character to get to level 20? Is there much grind / time involved.
2. Is the game more casual friendly than other mmorpgs?
3. Do all swords, axes, helms, etc. look the same, is it just the fact you can dye your armour that makes it look different or will there be various different looks?
4. I know there are regions you can explore. Are they instances just like the missions or are just the missions instanced? Are there boss creatures in the explorable areas or just in the instances?
5. Did you experience much lag? As there is only server I am afraid that when the game is released the lag gets much worse
6. I read that some people said the spell effects were not that great. Could you comment on that?
Hope you can answer my questions. I browsed the forums before posting, but it could be some of these questions were already answered so a link to the particular thread would also be nice.
Thanks.
P.S. This is my first post

Thanks for the quick answer Gats2k6.
About the explorable areas. Can you meet other people while traveling through these areas or is this not possible because just like missions they are instanced?
The issue about the multiple servers being networked as one, does that mean you don't have to select a server at character creation? If so this would be great as you won't get the problem that your friends will be playing on a different server and you have to start all over with a character (although that would be not that much of a problem with this game as with other mmorpgs).
and about the multiple servers as one you don't select what server since there is only 1. So u don't have to worry about friends playing on a diff server seing that you all are one server
There are 2 facts i want to share with u:
1) Doesnt matter how hard u try, u cant lick ur ellbow.
2) 90% of the people who read it try to lick thier ellbows :P
this is not true.
GW has only one game world. Choosing Home World is more like choosing alignment in other games. You still play in the single GW game world, but you're accounted for in the sense of the Worlds At War concept (i.e. when you play at the Tombs tournament and your team holds the Hall Of Heroes)
I think Home Worlds work like the language preferences - the devs said that lang prefs. help the game decide where are you from in the real world so it places you in districts with population from the same region an thus reduces lag. (You can guess by yourself that lang preferences are not good enough filter to make that kind of territorial sort tho - US and Canada speak english and french just like UK, France, Belgium and others - so to make a distinction between them the game checks your Home World flag and then matches you with crowd from that region)
So bottomline is: There's only one Guild Wars Gaming World - no parallel servers whatsoever!
I got question
Any one got key, then give it give it to me

yep i tried saying that but freddi is wacked up on something to pull that out where the sun don't shine. also i got alittle fyi for look at dev logs and articles it will tell you this stuff and your 100% wrong being multiple worlds to choose from there is just many servers networked as one you do understand that? i hope to god you or it will be my favor to buy you a networking book for dummies book - not trying to be mean but it is annoying how someof these people get rumors out of their own backend. what ffox said was perfect
About the explorable areas...well, you can meet with friends in cities, towns, forts (holding areas) which allow you to either:
1. Party to fulfill a mission;
2. Party to traverse explorable areas.
To clarify, the explorable regions are not like traditionall MMO's where someone passing you can wave or kill you...
You must party first then anyone in the team at any time just needs to walk through the explorable region gate for the entire party to enter.
Gats2k6 is correct about the server load. It's nice
