Any rumours about release date or sub. form. Last news I red(more than a year ago)it was supposed to be F2P.
Realy hope it wont be a f2p nor p2p with cash shop.

If it's F2P it'll be attrocious...
If it's P2P with cash shop it'll equally be attrocious...
Also, judging by information I personally gathered at E3 when I got hands on with Planetside 2 I am not expecting SOE to do anything with EQ3 that's worth mentioning.
EQ2 is a sinking "F2P-P2Plite" ship, and EQ1 is just too damn old and was changed too drastically with too many expansions.
SOE doesn't seem to be able to hire anyone that can do anything right. It's rather sad too !

I had read somewhere on here that someone linked a few months ago that the dev team proposed 2 different versions of games. One was like a 100 million budget and the other was a 25 million budget. Initially they decided to go with the 25m budget which kinda bums me out.
I miss EQ 1. Honestly talking release date I would imagine late 2014 sometime in 2015? I could be wrong.
everquest next will be a free to play title as every game SOE has now and is releasing in the future is free to play your way themed. They do have one of the worst pay to play models for their cash shop ive played with not being able to do anything basically as a bronze member in their games. Its funny to since the last update where they just updated dark light wood zone for newbs they added new legendary drops from a couple of mobs , go figure you cant equip them and they want you to spend 150 station cash to unlock the item slots or pay 15 bucks a month.
Dont expect much from EQnext as EQ2 is constantly changing and for the worse from majority of its player base. EQ2 has now completed its own NGE with nurfing all stats on toons to 1 stat you use and stam. EQnext im willing to go on record and say its going to be an itemized wow clone in the end. Why im saying that? its going to be a watered down version of eq1 mixed in with eq2 and right now eq2 is trying so damn hard to be just like wow its not even funny.
25m budget means one of two things:
They're NOT going for SWTOR style gameplay that requires a MASSIVE budget for a MASSIVE amount of developer created content (ie: sandpark)
OR
They're planning to remake EQ1 into a Sandbox devoted to PvP (which is the driving force behind EQ3, PVP).

So whats this information you personally gathered at E3?
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
Well first off, theres no such thing as Everquest3. Its going to be EverquestNext. The reason for the change, is that its meant as a reimagining of the entire franchise. Its not going to be the same old, quest/gear driven themepark that Eq1 and Eq2 are now, hence why its not a 3.
Its definately going to be F2P. They wont release another sub based game when they have taken all of thier game catalogue and made them all F2P. The game engine is something new they developed, not something we have seen before. Its going to scale the game with the machine its run on, the better your computer is, the better the game is going to look, but it will be playable on even old outdated PCs and laptops. Thats about all the info we have on it.
Most likely noone will know more than that until SOELive (Fan Faire). Thats usually where they discuss upcoming expansions for games already released, and toss teasers for upcoming titles.
If i had to speculate, i would expect something more like FreeRealms, ala mini-game driven gameplay. Possibly even including features like the Dungeon Maker from EQ2 for player made content.
Until SOELive, theres really no reason to keep asking about it thought. And stop calling it Eq3, because its not.
why do people keep insist on saying this crap, someone claiming its going to become a facebook game, is who use those figures....ofc cant know anything about the budget...but this is just taken out of context from obvious troll posts, also never saw any link >< quite the opposite the one link Ive seen were a twitter where Smedley half confirm EQ3 as EQ1 on steroids - but you know Smed use big words...
either way....the only thing said this year - of what I know, is that the old art work they released a couple years back (3?), cant be considered to be any part of what EQ3 is now, and abit of hype management asking people to imagine the most crazy thing you could get to do in a MMO, and he would bet no one would be able to imagine what EQ3 would feature.
also it to me looks like they have putted EQ3 abit on the backburner, guessing to get PS2 pushed out as soon as possible
you have to remember PS2 got called planetside next as well....you should not be suprised if they change the name to EQ3, it have from the begining been told that EQnext is a working title, but they were quite sure they wouldnt call it EQ3, at that time...wiith their name change for PS2 I aint too certain untill they do change the work title, that it wont be EQ3 in the end.
think you are right about the dungeon maker though
SoE officially changed their business model to freemium as default.
So you can expect freemium, unlocks, cash-shop and all model similar like in EQ2 and other SoE games.
I will pass, but it's your choice.
You are the MOST ill-informed person in this thread, congrats!
"EQ:Next" is an internal dev title assigned to the next iteration of games under that franchise's title. Addtionally, Planetside 2 was called "PlanetsideNext" until it left 100% internal dev and was "Officially" announced as Planetside 2.
Similarly, EverquestNext (ie: Everquest 3) will be officially announced either by end of this year or early next year and will get some new title as a re-imagining, or will get Everquest 3 as per what most SOE guys @ E3 thinks it'll have.

Yea, ironically that's what Funcom did in 2011 but still released TheSecretWorld as a Sub based game with a "cosmetic" cash shop.

While FadedBomb is right EQNext is just a codename, we actually dont know if it is EQ3 or Norrath or whatever, Aslan132 is right also about we will not know anything until EQLive this year at the earliest. So pipe down everyone.
To continue where Aslan132 and FadedBomb left off, and shed more light on the F2P aspect. Code name EQNext will NOT have a freemium payment model it is designed to be F2P like Planetside 2. Planetside 2's model is all gameplay is 100% FREE. Skins which are cosmetic and hourly xp boosts which give no combat advantage to one player or the other. the worst that xp boosts do is "congratulations you just ruined your leveling experience by speeding through instead of exploring".
Any power advantage has to be earned through in game play ONLY. EQNext will be the same. They stated the freemium model is because those games were not designed as completely free to begin with. The did state that they are creating a VIP type membership for those who wish to pay for a subscription type, but it would provide a couple of shallow benefits and not an advantage yet again. P2P and F2P players would be on even ground the whole time, and in a one on one example a level 30 F2P vs a level 30 P2P its a coin toss as to who will win, because you are both equals and have to earn your stuff.
I wish you people would learn to research better and not bash something until you were well educated enough. You guys bash stuff and deny yourself a possibly fun experience, because you are too self righteous to learn and be open minded. Not Every F2P is P2W. and SOE has made it very clear that they do not want to have a P2W Crowd.
So calm down and wait it out. If you hate the features when YOU ACTUALLY KNOW something, then whatever. But dont be stupid and write off something before you know anything about it, and again do you research, i'm tired of having to correct alot of you.
May we call it third EQ?
I read this game will be casual friendly, is this true? If so, I'm out.
I remember in EQ1 how travel was trecherous. When I was traveling from Freeport to Qeynos, I just about kissed the ground when I walked on the grassy area protected by guards. Getting there was a non-stop adventure in itself -- omg the bridge daunting music theme when I reached that checkpoint midway, in the Karanas.
Recreate this mystery and sense of danger and you got me long term. I subbed to EQ1 for 6 years! I didn't get into EQ2 mainly because SOE failed to see the need for "seem-less" travel .. ie no loading screens.
Create a whooptie doo I died and now I auto-ressed closer to where I needed to be, and (sigh) the EverQuest franchise will be dead to me, like WoW. ... Along with the oh I am a subscriber, I get epics now! ... Along with the, oh I pay every month, I deserve to see the hardmode places around here, even if I'm not invested in this game, I demand to down the hardest content! Pfft.

Recognize the voice? Yep sounds like Penny Arcade's Extra Credits.
Sony DOESNT take risks..they do NOT try to step off the well beaten path.
In fact the last game they had that was off the beaten path got patched to correct the issue...SWG fans loved it i heard.
I fully expect a no-risk massive quest hub themepark with battlegrounds a very complex AA system and a whole boatload of collectible crap...tons of titles...crafting at a forge...basically a modern EQ2...well without EQ2's gimp game engine.
If they were to do something slighly risky they may toy with combat.
OR
They are going to go full blast with pvp, im guessing a massive quest hub mmo with a big focus on pvp since thats what everyone else is doing in mmorpg-land.
But yeah that budget cant be right....far too small...
It was announced 2 years back and is now in redesign after dcuo failed and they are going with the planetside 2 engine instead of dcuo, In fact they scrapped all the screen shots. It will not be out this year, It is not even going to be presented at soe live (fanfaire used to be called). smedly has even said it will not be until sometimes 2013.
yes they scrapped the stuff from 2010, in 2010 Smedley says if you actually watch the videos, WE ARE NOT ANNOUNCING THE GAME it is in early development(IE Prototyping) however last year 2011 they said EQ Next was going to be on their new forgelight engine (same engine as PS2) Smedley never said ANYTHING about 2013 and it was announced a month or so ago that if all goes well they will be announcing more EQNEXT info later THIS (2012) YEAR. They even pushed SOE Live back to October earlier this year because they knew they needed more time.(Personal feeling, but they never gave any reason as to why it changed dates after so long.) ANYWAY Here is the post from The Executive Producer of the Everquest Franchise, Dave Georgeson.
$25M seems a bit poor, yes. 50M would be fine, you don´t have to waste money like a braindead troll to make a fun MMO but $25M wa a normal budget 10 years ago, now a normal budget is $60-80M.
Of course they do get the engine for free and they could actually cut many corners by recycing art, maps and other stuff from EQ1 (it is supposed to be a reboot of Norrath from the start).
But I still can´t shake the feeling that we will get a buggy half finnished game for that sum. That it will use EQ2s "freemium" model is not good news either, when they changed EQ2 it actually got a lot more expensive to play the game seriously (aka "endgame").
EQ was a great game, but SOE have been falling ever since.
Honestly I cannot give an answer to whether it will be Casual friendly or not. NO one knows, and anyone claiming to know is lying. We have to wait and see just where this is going, which is why after reading the link in my post right before this everyone will....no scratch that...SHOULD realize that we wont get any info until later THIS year. I hope it is a great game, I was a long time fan of EQ1, I was even mostly fine with EQ2 but prefer EQ1. EQ1 + Next Gen Graphics and animations = AUTO WIN!
I dont know why people keep posting that rumor about the 2 versions. It was debunked by smed himself in December last year.
Yeah I wonder also what is going on, but figure they were/are waiting till SWToR, GW2 and this latest batch of big names hit then they'll likely start up marketing later this year or such.
I am still sad SOE cancelled The Agency, it looked fun.
They are not giving any info on EQnext at live Here is the page, I also have the itnererary as I am going first time since 2006 in atlanta. I already shot them an email and asked them what was up It is nowhere on the interary unless they stick it in with eq2. Kind of like they did in 2010. The past 2 years they have info about eqnext. This year they don't I asked a question on the soe facebook pages when live was first announced. Dyanica replied that the game was too early in it's infancy to be discussed at live this year. We might get a preview, but where not getting anything rock solid hard, we are still as much as the dark as we were when the project was still announced. Just check the eq2wire page if you dont believe me. They would be the first to announce any new info.
Oh the link you provided did not work. It just spun forever and gave a 400 error.

ok first off, do you even know how SOE Live Works? They dont announce the SPECIAL panels til the Keynote. In 2010 No one knew about the EQ Next Panel until they got to Fan Faire for the Keynote. Last year they unveiled Planetside 2(switching of PlanetsideNext to official name, which by the way everyone thought the new game was gonna be Everquest Next and it was the official planetside 2 reveal) at the KEYNOTE and announced the panels as well. NO ONE KNEW cuz it was a NEW GAME. Same will be this year so the lineup is only going to show existing games. Secondly I fixed the link in my previous post and here is the link again. http://eq2wire.com/2012/06/19/eqnext-news-late-this-year/
also at your SOE Live link if you wanna get technical about how it works. you see the time slot for 10am - 5pm each day? it says "Discussion Panels, Forums and Roundtables: EverQuest®, EverQuest II, PlanetSide®2, DC Universe Online™, Free Realms, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, Magic the Gathering: Tactics, Vanguard: Saga of Heros®, Industry-specific and Player-Generated panels and more!" That AND MORE is referring to the suprises they announce at the keynotes.
