Before SWTOR, WoW was my last MMO I was really pumped up about. I guess I'm a minority when I say that I actually do like SWTOR. I'm concurrently playing both WoW and SWTOR. WoW for my guildmates and friends I've met over the years, and SWTOR to actually play the game.
Ya, so as it states. Am I the only person that has not been excited about a MMO in a very long time. Not only this, but am I the only person who see's the industry completely going in the opposite direction of what they personally feel should be the correct direction? Note I said personal feelings. I can honetly say, even with GW2, TSW, and others coming along...just don't think the industry producers are all that in touch with what we, the players, are desiring in our games.
1) I wouldn't say i am "excited", but i do look forward to MOP and Marvel Heroes. However, for 2012, the must-play game for me is Diablo 3 & Borderland 2 .. neither are MMOs, but the playstyle is close enough for me.
2) No. I think MMOs are going the right direction, personally. Incorporate more features from other genres. Easier to form groups and drop into a dungeon. Less commitment & time consuming. More scripted content.
3) I don't know whether the dev is in touch with YOU .. but many does run forums & answer questions & concerns. And for the ones that sell millions, they must be doing somethign right.

My problem with TOR is that it is too MMO like. I think it will be a much better game as a multiplayer co-op action RPG.
Its strength, the story, is hampered down by all the MMO world mechnanics. For example, there is a lot of back-tracking or run over the same terrain in some of the quests. A SP RPG will simply solve this by teleporting you around, or cut to a new chapter or a new point in the story. These are useful story tools that cannot be used in a MMO.
I also think that TOR combat is too tied down to MMO combat mechanics. A more actiony system will be better. In Force Unleashed, i can fight a horde of enemies, and bring down fighters with force powers .. that feel powerful and exciting. In TOR, i am at most fighting like 3-4 enemies. Even something like Diablo type combat (not isometrics, just the feel) will be better. I want to mow down dozens .. and bosses should have lots of minions.

Getting excited over an MMO is just asking to be disappointed.
