Warrior melee performance at Dungeons / DE?

littleXurolittleXuro Member Posts: 37

I remember the complaints around melee in BWE1.

Anyone here played a warrior or any other class using melee mainly inside the level 35 dungeon or difficult boss DE's during BWE2/3?

How is melee holding up compared to ranged after the BW1 complaints?

I'm asking because I didn't play any BWE after 1 to reserve content for the prelaunch and I prefer melee over ranged any day.

They buffed melee, and nerfed ranged pretty bad, so actually melee was the better choice in most cases.

As it should be, I usually play a ranger / archer in games, and melee is always the underdog because of the gap that they continuously need to close, so when they do close it, they should be rewarded with the ability to bring hurt.

I played warrior during BWE2 and couple other stress tests. I think the very first stress test, meele was getting roflstomped by bosses cause it seemed they argoed the people closest to them. But during the next BWE2 I think meele was buffed up abit. I remember one boss fight, where ~10 of us were beating on this boss, and I was the only meele. Half way thru the fight the boss one shots 80% of the ranged people there, me and another guy was the only one living =D

In DEs I think it depends on what you are doing. If you are fighting a single boss, you should equip a weapon depending on the attacks that the boss has. If the DE requires you to defend from waves of troops, probably best bet is to use range. Because if you run in with meele, that whole wave of mobs is going to focus you. It really depends on the situation, but you know GW2 has weapon swapping, so just be like most people and equip a ranged wep/meele wep.

In dungeons, I know that the bosses do crazy damage and I recommend using ranged. Why ranged? because it allows for kiting/dodging a lot easier AND if you die, it's easier to rez you. If you are meele and die to boss, your teammates will have to run to you to rez you possibly causing furthur deaths. Just my 2-cents
