Dreaming MMOs

image

Two years ago when I was a huge Anarchy Online player I'd spend on average 8 hours a day playing AO.  This time was usually played right before sleeping.

I played for about 3 years, and about a year in to playing I started occasionally dreaming in MMO. I'd actually walk around as my character in the game. It was like I was playing, yet I was actually in the game. Quite odd I guess.

Anyone else ever get this?  I think I started dreaming in Everquest 2 last night...not sure. image

I dream about movies, games and anything that mark my imagination.  So yes, althought not on the top of my dreams, MMOs are occasionnaly a part of my dreams.

Recall me the Woody comic where Ted would have rather got a map of Sebilis then a naked Angelina picture...

Dreaming about your hobbies only show that your hobbies mark your imagination, someone that never dreams about his pastimes is someone I would feel sorry for unless they never dream or recall dreams.

Alot of dreams result from processing your day during REM. So if your day is full of MMORPGs, you'll probably dream about them.

I think this is a sign that u guys need some fresh air, go run for 30 min, it wont bite you , you will even feel better, but  ya when I was big on games, I would play so much that when I went to my browser, it felt like I was still playing, I would use the WASD keys to move, ect. but no dreams of mmos yet

Yup, I've done it too. It usually hits when I'm heavily grinding and totally obsessed, playing all day... I remember in the heat of the Jedi grind in SWG, I once dreamed I had unlocked my slot. When I was a kid, I remember waking up subsequently disappointed after realizing my getting a puppy was only a dream. After that, it was force sensitive slots. :)

Yah, both my wife and I have had this happen.  Especially after a really long raid night or "scarey" encounter where it takes everything you or your group has to make it through.  I wouldn't say it was often, but I don't think it's too unfamiliar.  I also agree with some of the other posters who said any hobby can do this.  When I was a big hunter, in my teens and early 20's, I'd dream of sneaking up on deer etc. also.  I had one particular nightmare, when I spent an entire day basically trying to figure out why I couldn't get a rifle I'd purchased sighted in.  I typically can zero a weapon in less than 5 groups and after blowing about 5 boxes, ie. 100 bucks worth of ammo trying this one, I was actually having nightmares about the blasted thing.  Finally I realized that I'd bought a scope that had a reverse thread in the screw adjustment knobs and thus was moving the recticle the wrong way.  ROFL.  Anyway, anything can spark a dream, so an MMO isn't surprising. ;)

Yep, I have dreamt of MMOs. It's actually quite cool to imagine yourself in a world where you wish you could be in (well, some of us), yet you aren't even close to it. That's why I kind of dream those situations, because I can never be in a world like that. Of course, this also was the product of a lot of hours spent playing that day.

I just had one last night. I dreamed I was playing SWG and was actually in the game. I saw a "portal", went in and was transported to Asheron's Call. Everyone there wanted to know why I left and went to a SOE game.
