My dream RPG game

tallguytallguy Member Posts: 13

If I had the ability to build this I would but alas i do not and can only dream of it and hope that perhaps one day in the future some developer will make it a reality.

In no particular order, this list presents the elements of my dream RPG.

1. Character customization

The ability to mold a character's appearance

2. Item upgrading

This is always fun but it should easy and not ridiculously complicated like in DDO. Their system is horrible.

3. No fetching trivial resource quests

Collecting X animal pelts, X flowers or other trivial items does not make a quest or game "fun".

Killing an evil wizard in a tower, ruins or dungeon  is much more captivating.

4. No crap loot drops

I don't pickup useless items therefore they should not drop period. I'd rather see nothing than a pile of crap.

As an example, in Diablo 3 I have yet to pickup a white item which seem to drop 95% of the time.

5. Some plot element which allows for a zone (or zones) that generates random dungeons each time you enter; which contain beasts and loot scaled to your level. Maybe rifts in space and time...

This creates unlimited replay value because sometimes you just want to explore and kill stuff for hours for no rhyme or reason. No princess to rescue or damsel in distress just pure exploration and slaughter.

I am so sick of Diablo 3, its horrible drop rate, ridiculous AH prices and its repetitiveness. What a waste of $60.

Out of my list the most important to me are #5, #1 and #2.

Should be deep and slightly complex. deep as in many many slider options, complex as in being able to create a starters build with many many skills that can be tide together, example skill 1 is able to shoot a lightning bolt, skill 2 makes you able to kick a target, now press S1 and S2 together and you will get a shockkick. So there should be almost enless possiblity's.

    2. Item upgrading

In my perfect RPG it should be complicated, don't know why you feel DDO's itemization is so complicated, though it had a certain complexity to it that made it challenging

NPC's shouldn't have those type of quest's as collecting X animal pelts or X flower are things you pick up anyway in a RPG either for your crafting and if you not into crafting simply for selling it for credits which you gonna need anyway.

Killing the evil wizard in esence are things I expect to be the sort of NPC quests found in a RPG.

Personaly no problem with crap loot, brings in some credits when selling even if it's very minimal, thankfully in a RPG there is no need to rush, so you can build up some nice credit for when needed.

Ah again personaly feel Diablo isn't a "RPG" as for me it has to do with a first person view within the gameworld and see D3 more as a hack and slash action game with some rpg elements. but as said it's how I personaly view which is fully my own opinion.

    5. Some plot element which allows for a zone (or zones) that generates random dungeons each time you enter; which contain beasts and loot scaled to your level. Maybe rifts in space and time...

I am not in favour of lvl scaling, I like the thrill of being somewhere that's actually to hard for me and try to survive regardless, and if it's to hard I know I will be back to eventually do that dungeon/area. But I do see the appeal of what you said for the masses.

This creates unlimited replay value because sometimes you just want to explore and kill stuff for hours for no rhyme or reason. No princess to rescue or damsel in distress just pure exploration and slaughter.

Exploration is almost the number one thing that should be exciting, fun, meaningfull in a RPG but as many before me have said fun is subjective, what might be fun to me doesn't mean it has t be fun to you and visa versa..

I am so sick of Diablo 3, its horrible drop rate, ridiculous AH prices and its repetitiveness. What a waste of $60.

Have you tried other types of RPG or what I would consider more RPG's?

Most recent till 1/2 years old: TwoWorld 2,  The Wither 2, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and some more in that catergory
