Metacritic is actually a hugely used source in the industry. Bonuses on games are often tied to metacritic scores. Crazy, and probably a bad idea, but true.
If I were to guess I'd put the current sub amount at around 350k....problem is, as others have stated, Themeparks tend to bleed after 3 months....which they cannot afford if they lose any more subs.
EDIT: their stock is down to 3.01, with the highest amount of volume in 52 weeks. I wouldnt be surprised if it is down below 2 by Friday. Most investors are selling their stock back to Funcom, I doubt many people are buying their stock.
That seems high to me.
They said that they were at risk for not selling 500k units in the first twelve months. I think that means that they aren't close to 500k units sold now. If they sold, say, 400k units (probably also higher than actual, I think -- my guess is that they sold between 300 and 400k), I think it'svery unlikely that they retained 350k of those as subscribers. My guess is it has around 200k subs right now, maybe a bit more maybe a bit less, based on a very healthy retention rate of around 50-60% and somewhere between 300 and 400k of sales.

I actually think current subs is around 300k. I also feel that more people have bought the game post launch, which is why the lead with the bad news first and report better (not great) news at the end of the month. Mainly focusing on retention. They said they aren't changing their plans for TSW and releasing continual content each month seems a good why to try and hold retention. We'll have to see what they pull this week at Gamescom. As I said before, they better dress to impress.
