Hello, MMORPG people.
Well... a lot of us GMs got let go today, myself included. After quite a bit of time and effort spent supporting the games you know (Well. Probably not.) and love (Hmm. Not bloody likely.) I'm fully prepared to tell you anything you'd ever want to know about exactly what it is that goes on behind the proverbial scenes in The Secret World, Age of Conan, and Anarchy Online.
So. What you got, forum?

So they did it again?
Funcom does this after every major release.
Have you pre-ordered GW2 yet?
Did you play TSW, if so how far did you progress?
What was your most memorable experience answering a petition?
Mage, I'm sorry you were let go, but this thread seems like a bad idea. For the posters, it's wonderful - it's pitchfork, torch and witch hunt party time. For you, it'll probably be a lot of fun to vent for the next couple hours, but think about what you're going to write. Saying this for your sake, not mine, as I'm just as happy to see you hang yourself and everyone else here.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein
"Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
It isn't doing well. There is another thread projecting they will sell less than 500K clients over the first 12 months, which is about half what they were expecting at a minimum.
This is why

Being laid off and being fired are two different things.
And this post would not be surprising at all given today's news regarding box sales and financial projections.
Still, I can't imagine that this thread will end well.
"Loading screens" are not "instances".
Your personal efforts to troll any game will not, in fact, impact the success or failure of said game.
Seriously? That's too bad. Although I didn't sub to the game because I didn't much like the mechanics, I thought it was a pretty well done game. The atmosphere especially was pretty darn awesome.
Assuming this guy was an actual GM, I guess I would ask, "Are you planning on retiring now?" and "Do you have any interest in getting another job in the industry?" Don't think it's usually a good idea to visit public forums after getting canned to start airing all the dirty laundry of the company you just worked for. Future employers probably won't think that is an admirable quality.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
Until I see proof that they are laying off, and proof that you actually worked for them, then I will continue to think this thread is full of crap, made by a Funcom/TSW hater.
It is mirrored in the GW2 forum.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
They are on the TSW forums as well. They seem to pop of everywhere. You can find their posts that they are playing x game till GW2 releases. And while they are there all they do is bash. Just the way the GW2 community is. I never liked or disliked the GW franchise but the last month or so made me decide to not even want to try GW2.
One big problem with MMORPGs is, that for any player, aside of the locusts, its a serious investment of time and nobody wants to invest time into a thing that may end up crashlanding (including me).
AoC is pretty much dead and wont never take off again, AO is snailng ahead, TSW may never live up its potential and snail ahead as all other FC games.
Bad bad news for Funcom, its Employees and the Players.
OP, do you feel the launch time facing so much major competition is the main reason for failing to meet the expectations?
Has SWTORs "fail" alienated potential customers?
Is the game to "challenging"?
Was the marketing to "low profile"?
What else do you think be the reason its not as successful as expected?
Best regards and hoping you will find a good Job asap!

Actually I loved working there no hard feelings at all. Most od the CS staf got laid off.
"They" is everyone on this site! GW2 fans aren't exclusive to visiting other forums, it goes full circle with everyone here. TSW visits Tera, Tera visits SWTOR, etc. etc.
No matter what, I beleive this post thread was nipped in the bud and should be locked anyway!
