Darkfall worth a try?

I've read a couple re-reviews of Darkfall and find myself curious about this hardcore, grindy violent sandbox pvp game :-)

Anyone here experienced with Darkfall that could offer some insight in to what amount of time I would have to invest to feel that I could participate in pvp events and raiding?

Is the game much improved since release?

Are there any recent or upcoming changes that improves the game a lot?
