Ever Quest 2

I love everquest 2. I suggest you get it if you have a EXTREMELY good computer. If you dont it will only take up all the space in your computer and you wont be able to play or it lag so much it will drive you insaneimage.

hello guys. I'm new to this website image. my 2nd or 3rd time visited. 1st was for Vanguard info.. just registered tonight. I don't think you need an extremely good computer to run it, you just probably need to buy a few things if 1st:you want to run it on the highest/high settings and 2nd: your system is semi/outdated. if it's REALLY outdated you will need a new computer. my system is about 2 years old but it runs fine on balanced. I just had to buy another slot of 500 mb ram and a $400 graphics card. of course computers get outdated so you will continually need to update your computer to play the latest and greatest games. I remember when The Sims 1 came out my current computer couldn't handle it and I was so disappointed. it's good to have updated software anyways things run smoother image

I enjoy the game too. Glad to hear you're having a good time as well. As far as having to have an extremely good PC, not quite. Heres my system which is good, but by no means great.

    Gig of mushkin ram

    Intel P4 3.0 Ghz

Nvidia 6600 (overclocked, but still the vanilla version.)

With this system I am able to run the game and it looks and plays great. I think too many people think they have to have a super computer for Eq2 so they don't even bother trying it.

EQ2 sucks worse than WoW and thats sayin something because WoW is horrible.

  • ElnatorElnator Member Posts: 6,077

Actually it ran fine on my old pc. I just had to tone the settings down. The game has an incredible variety of controlls that let you tweak it's performance based on what your system can handle.

My old system, which JUST got replaced, was:
    P4 1.2ghz, 100mhz FSB
512MB PC133 RAMBUS RAM (not DDR)
    GeForce 5700
    SB Live Value

The game ran fine though it was a little slugish in major areas. But definitely playable.

On my new system I can totally max out the video settings and play at 1200x1024 resolution w/o any issues at all:
    P4 3.2ghz 800mhz fsb
    2GB 533mhz DDR SDRAM
    GeForce 6800 GT
    SB Audigy

So, if you have an awesome system you can REALLY enjoy the true beauty of the graphics in the game. But if you have an older system you should be fine too. I wouldn't try it with less than 512mb of RAM and a 1ghz processor though.

Elnator, you might want to put a little thought into your post before you hit the reply key.

If you look that the guy's stats...he obviously played the original EQ for a long amount of time. So its not your typical "I like wow, I hate EQ2"

second of all, if someone can express their opinion that "OMG I LUV eq2" someone can reply with the opposite.

stop trolling and add something to the conversation.

And how did Copeland add something to the conversation in your opinion? Lose statements of 'dislike' towards a game without arguments don't really add content to any discussion either, do they? And next to that, EQ was 'king' of MMORPGs in it's time and having played it has hardly anything to do with one's opinions of current MMORPGs.

He dislikes it, that's by all means his right of course, but such lose statements aren't worth the effort of 'defending' when someone points out the lack of background information in such a post.

I definetly enjoyed the couple of months that I wasted away in EverQuest II. Thankfully however, I was able to quit before I got too addicted.

The game definetly has it's good points, and bad points, and if you can play Half-life 2 with everything on low then you can most definetly play EverQuest II with everything on medium. Turn everything to high though and you're just asking for 1 FPS.

The thing that mostly made me want to quit is the fact that it just wasn't what I was looking for in an EverQuest game. I miss the old days on EQ1 before any of the expansions, where the game was more about the journey as character in Norrath rather then an endless progression to the next best item. Despite the seriously awesome graphics and great audio scores in EQII, I found myself frustratingly unable to immerse myself in the world as I would have liked. In other words, the game promotes way too much power gaming for my liking.

If you're looking for EQ Classic like I was you won't find it in EQII, but it's no doubt worth a try. (30 Free days, and you can download the whole thing from any Sony Online game patcher, although I won't disclose how.)

At least EQ feels like an MMORPG though, compared to WoW that's like a single player game with other people stealing your quest mobs. Grouping is VERY fun in EQII, and I'm sure it would have been fun in WoW if I got more than 1 a week.

Yeah, not a very good point StanLee. You're arguing beacuse he played the original Eq he somehow knows everything about Eq2? Maybe you should read before replying.

    Sorry wrong.

I did reply appropriately. Having played WOW, EQ2 EQ1 DAOC, AO, AC, PlanetSide, Horizons, Lineage and a WHOLE slew of others I find it very ironic that someone who's never played a SPECIFIC game can come on a board and say it sucks.

FYI: EQ2 is NOTHING like EQ1 it's a totally different feel to the game and the graphics are a whole different world. The game is FAR different in both playstyle and construction than EQ1. Having played EQ1 does not give someone the background to make a judgement call on EQ2.

You might want to take a look at when I joined this board. I'm FAR from a troll. I just don't post that often.

EverQuest just like 100% of all mmorpgs out there is like a suit.

While it will fit well for some, it may not look right on others.

Some may have no problems taking it to a tailor to get it fitted just right while some don't want to bother with the needed hassle of spending a little extra money to get it hemmed.

Some like the suit black, while other like it Navy Blue

Some like the double breasted look, while others like the straight button style.

If you like Everquest2 then great, go with it ::::20::

If you don't like it, it's ok....plenty of other mmorpgs to try out.

Who's cope? Never heard of him. As I said I've played just about every MMO out as well. And EQ2 doesn't "suck" and it's far superior to EQ1. He never stated he's played EQ2 he said he "knows how EQ1 sucked" that doesn't mean he knows jack squat about EQ2. Also, I doubt he's played EQ2 longer than I have since I was in the beta. As to EQ I can guarantee I played that longer than him as well since I played from Beta 2 and am STILL playing EQ1 from time to time. I also played in WOW Beta. EQ2 and WOW are very similar. The only reason to recommend one over the other is if you like PVP or if you prefer not to PVP in an MMORPG. WOW for PVP, EQ2 for PVE. Neither of them "sucks". They're both very decent games that have both good and bad points.

Just because someone played a lot of MMO's doesn't mean that they can just spout off a comment with nothing to back it up.

might as well be, to my experience Copeland likes EQ. and that's it. he also thinks it is nice to tells everyone else around how any other game sucks big time.
