Your most interesting build ideas?

ShorunShorun Member UncommonPosts: 247

Hey guys!

I'm really looking forward to gw2. Currently I try to make some interesting builds to see which class I will choose first.

I don't know if there has been a thread like this before (I couldn't find one), but I would like to see some INTERESTING builds. By that I mean: No boring DPS Greatsword/Hammer-Warrior, Standard-AoE-Ele, Minion-and-DoT-Necro, etc.

What do you think would be a "unusual" build that could actually work?

You can make builds here:

Here is my idea for a shouting support warrior. The main aspect are the shouts with the short cooldown combined with "Vigorous Shouts", which allows me to heal every 5,625 seconds when using the warhorn (self-heal excluded). I don't know if it could work, but I'll definitely try it out.

------------------------------------

I'm hoping to get some really cool ideas! :)

Well for interesting builds , that for sure will NOT work , I have been toying around with a NO- weapons mesmer.  Inspired by the Rollerbeetle in gw1.

using the trait  Deceptive evasion to create clones when dodging, and using all means availeble (equipment and traits) to gain vigor, to be able to dodge more.

And then Signet of Of illusions to recharge shatter skills.

But when adding weapons , this dodging mesmer is actual going to be interesting to test out.

    traits

vigorious revalations that gives vigor to allies (including self) when shattering.

Critical infusion that gives vigor on critical hits (as exsample to benefit from with swords blurring frenzy).

illusionanry invigoration that recharge shatter skills at 50%.

    and

sigil of supior enegy that gives 50% endurance gain at weapons wap (9 sec cooldown) and/or

sigil of stamina that refills endurance on a kill (pvE)

    And

rune of the adventure that gives 100% endurance when using a healing skill (10 seconds cooldown).

    ..

If working its a build that could be dodging maybe 50% of the time, being a real pain to catch and that is creating a clone each time he dodge, that fuels the shatters that this build is going to be all about. Its all about shatters because shatter can be done while other skills are used (including dodge i think), and shatters will give more vigor to dodge with.

It might not be that dangerous, but catch the mesmer if you can.

And give him a partner or 2 that is alså doing the same and they could be al be benefiting from vigorious revalations and nothing should stop them from being No-stop dodging rollerbettles.

I thought about this dodge-clone idea too, though I don't get what you mean by "no-weapons". Do you mean you wouldn't use your first 5 skills (or rarely)? That would limit you very heavily.

I was working on something similar utilizing scepter with offhand sword which gives you 2 blocking skills on short cooldowns, both of which create clones if you block and the clones are traited to cause AoE conditions when they are killed.  So while you're waiting for endurance to recharge you can still avoid attacks.  Also, you can LOS attacks by standing behind your illusions.  For secondary weapon set I went with sword (for the 2s distortion skill) and focus (for Phantasmal Warden's projectile defensive bubble).

    So something like this:

By the way, that site is seriously outdated.  I think I see some skills there that haven't been around since BWE1.

I toyed with the idea without weapons- and that will not work well ofcause- but adding weapons is another story as I continue to write, and the part of the post you don't qoute is where i talk about doing with a weapon.

The point is that if using dodging most of the time, there is not a lot of time using weapon skills. And I don't exspect to get that many auto attack off with that build. But all of the mesmer weapons have something going with this build. I like the sword and torch combo. becuase 2 seconds distortion and 3 seconds invisibility is going to provide some nice other defense, with some time involved to gain more vigor. The hits from blurred frenzy should give some criticals to gain vigor with, hopefully enough for another dodge.

But besides that this build has alot of fredom in how to set it up with weapons and other traits.

If mirror gets down to 15 seconds recharge, it could be a very decent heal skill for this build. I am suspecting it to maybe work best as a toughness/condition damage build. But that part i am not sure about. Maybe its that defensive mobile that a high power build is the only thing that makes sense!

What does that have to do with this thread?

This is how i was thinking about making my guardian

    Trait Points:

    Zeal: 20 - 5 set, 10 Zealous Blade, 15 - set, 20 - Greatsword Power

    Radiance: 0

    Valour: 25 - 5 set, 10 - Defenders Shield, 15 - set, 20 - Honorable Shield, 25 - set

    Honour: 25 - 5 set,  10 - Writ of the Mercifiul, 15 - set, 20 - Superior Aria, 25 - set

    Virtues:

I didn't see the point in maxing out any single trait line as the most usefull traits can be seized within 20

    Main set is greatsword

    second set is sword/shield combo

    Ulitiies are:

healing breeze (6), Hold the Line (7), Not there but will be using "Save yourself" (8), Signet of Judgement (9) and for the elite will be either Tome of Courage or Tome of Wrath depending on what I am doing and how I am needed :)

I thought it was interesitng because I would be able take heavy damage therefore providing a buffer between the light-armour guys whilst at the same time being able to support heavily with party wide shouts (hold the line, Save yourselfs). yes, I know that there is no aggro mechanic but with the Guardians ability to put down buffers between the enemy and you it would be a just generally be helpfuly if you were running with eles etc who draw a lot of attention from enemies
