Anyone notice the article ? The firms approached EA not the other way around. This article makes it seem like EA is looking for a buyer when that is not the case. EA is listening like any company would listen.
Well said, depending on who buys them it could get much worse.. the group that owns Bethesda seems less hostile, but if they take over Ea I know they'll cut some development house along with games.
How do you know this?
And this is all rumor at this point anyhow, all this hate you people have for EA is ridiculous...

EA has earned every drop of hate and venom cast its way over many years.

EA has been at the top of my least favorite game companies for at least 15 years.. If they get bought out by another game company that would be welcome news, if its an investment group of some kind as mentioned, then yes that would be bad.
Only an idiot would sell out to KKR. They specialize in dismantling companies. Been in a couple they took apart and they don't leave very little left when they are done. Not a big fan of EA, but if you take them apart, you are basically conceding a big part of the gaming genre to companies outside the US.

This is called poetic justice. With all the companies that EA gobbled up and destroyed. I would *LOVE* to see this happen to them. Have them bought and dismantled. It would serve them right. Maybe someone could finally fix all the garbage that EA has done.

And some people think that customers have no power. This would be a direct result, even if unintentional, of customers putting their money where their mouth is.
I don't think they're going to have much luck without underselling themselves. Activision may be more expensive, but they're also a hell of a lot more successful and they haven't had ANY luck. Combine that with projects either their own or that they had hands in failing/failed, the slumping game market and the transition to new payment models, and I'd consider them a risky investment.

Let's look at this logically (yeah, sorry - I had a couple of Malibu & Cokes for lunch)
If anyone would be interested in buying EA, my first guess would be Microsoft. I remember Mass Effect 1 being available exclusively for the Xbox then branching out to the PC later on . Buy buying EA, they would have access to a lot of franchises and once again have the option to release titles on the Xbox first.
...or maybe the person(s) who won the $320 million Powerball jackpot could be convinced to buy EA but only after flogging those executives responsible for their current "rush & patch" business model *coughcoughmasseffect3coughcough*

I'm sure they can get a job at Kinkos. They have plenty of experience copying things over and over.

I wouldn't mind EA getting dominated/devoured by another company, but I'm not sure if this is a reliable source. The New York Post is rather famous for it's sensationalism. And unsurprisingly, the Post doesn't bother telling us how it acquired this information.
I'd take the post over the Times out and out lies. At least the Post gets the facts right try to find the same in the Times no dice.
From our Frog-perspective as gamers it is close to impossible to predict, what consequences such an event would have. Could be anything, good, bad, or neutral.
Good: EA gets what it deserves, the various IPs and bought companies are released and restored under new commands, being sold to various other companies. (Like Cryptic got better after being sold from Atari.)
Bad: EA is just slaughtered, nothing comes of it, or just even MORE soulless games.
Neutral: Just change of the top guys, all stays as it is.
As far as I can see, any of this could be the case. From the karma point of view, EA would deserve it, however. Maybe in the long term ANY change on this front is better as if EA remains as it is.

What else do you expect, your market share is down, you have 200 million invested in a game that went poof. I am not surprised they are looking to sale off bits and chunks.
You have to wonder who is going to end up owning them.

Kuppa the new console (except wii U) are 1 1/2 2 years out.
The problem is not the console anyhow. My pre-teen daughter would rather play on her mom's iPhone, mindcraft or a tablet then the same boring controller cosole & $60 game.
The future is not consoles in my opinon. It will be tablets or some thing along those lines.
Harder core older gamers may still like the TV consoles, but not if they cost $500 and games are $60. They got to worry about keeping up the family, or rent...etc that is if there are jobs. (I am talking about the US here)
This is not the good old 90's where we had peace and properity in the USA....maybe other Contries ...like India are better off since all our programming jobs have been outsourced there over the past decade(no lie).
Also I think no game should cost $60 right now, not at least how they make them. I am sickend at what I spent on FF14, WAR, ToR..
I do hope a $60 investment in GW2 will be good since gaming has been hobbie since my atari 2600 back in the 80's
This was no shots at you Kuppa, maybe the gaming industry will turn around...the F2P model is opening up and that is a very, very good thing. Maybe more companies will open up like Gamefly so you can try out a game instead of buring $60 on a console soda coster.

I am also wondering where this comes from:

EA, whose market cap is around $4 billion after a 37 percent drop this year
Revenue FYI 2011 - 3,589.00
Revenue FYI 2012 - 4,143.00
So they do have a source, but I still have trouble believing this article.
Market Cap is the total value of tradable shares in a public company, it doesn't have anything to do with Revenue.
EA 60$ games are poor quality.
They make shit games and hope some idiots buy them.
Or opening a very big door for new start ups...
Ah, thanks. Somehow I did not think about market capitalization as it isn't a direct company performance attribute.
