I think it will fail because it doesn't have pandas.
-_-
Seriously dude? Was this really necessary? I doubt most of the haters even think the game is going to fail.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity. I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already

That's one thing I agree with. Some people are nitpicky about certain features, some people don't like what the game offers (or doesn't offer), and others just don't like what they perceive the community to represent, but most of the "haters" I've seen have not claimed the game will fail.

Some of them are saying what they're saying NOW because they hope in a few months' time either they'll be right or, if they're not, people will forget who said what. It's always wise to play it safe if you're going to try and crystal-ball every game release. I think it's cowardly and pointless, myself.
IE: If the game doesn't fail (and I think most people are realizing it's actually selling really well already), you won't hear a peep from "them".

Why? Are you expecting to do some kind of Pokemon victory montague?

Besides they can't really troll here since they can't argue their opinion here since noone will answer them why they are wrong.
2. I'm sure this will be locked before you get a chance to bump this thread later because it's a bait for trolls and a bait for haters. Aerowyn is absolutly right saying this is a bad idea.
I think it will have a big dip in players a few weeks in, when the content locusts devour it and realise they can't use their poopsocking skills to win. Then it will gradually pick up players over time as it attracts the rest of us who are sick of skinner box loot addiction gameplay and grind to win.
Fail to be largely popular? Almost certainly impossible.
Fail to be the savior of the genre? Almost certainly.
GW2 biggest flaw is one of it's biggest features, DE. While there are many and varied DE they are still grind content. Meaning a DE will be the same DE no matter how many times repeat it. DE might have different stages but the stages remain the same. Other games have gotten stale because of a treadmill effect players beginning to fail and with the currect design of DE and point system, this same treadmill effect will turn away players.
The game is also overly simplistic. Two mace wielding guardians for the most part will be carbon copies of each other for the most part. The trait system offers some brenching off but the main skill usage will be the same. The argument of just use another weapon is also a flaw of the game. I like cool two-handed swords but I can't just use two-handed swords. The game forces different weapon types on users to access different skills instead of just making it a feature they can spec into without changing their weapon of choice.
GW2 will not be a FFXIV or even SWTOR. It can very much be another WoW but no one is calling WoW the best MMO in a serious tone. It is simply, largely popular.
Why does it even matter? Why cant you just play a game you enjoy and not give a damn who doesnt like it?
And dont say "tell us your reasons" like we all got together to come up with this topic. For some reason you care why people wont/dont like GW2 so it should be "tell me your reasons".

It'd be foolish to say the game is going to fail...becuase it wont.
Game just simply isnt for everyone.

After a while the dynamic events would (probably) be no fun anymore.
i'm not a hater of gw2 but i think that this thread is a really good idea by the OP.
true enough lol
It will fail when Salem officially releases. That I can garantee.
Oh wait...My crystal ball wasn't properly calibrated.
