I don't know why people are hyping guild wars up so much, the game isn't even that good, the first one was nothing spectacular.
Typical fantasy MMO imo, from being in the beta tests, DE's copied straight from warhammer PQ system and Rifts invasions.
So much blind fanyboyism for a NCsoft/Arenanet game, when really nothing great has ever come from either camp.
I bought it anyway 'cause i'm a mmo veteran and that's what i do, but no doubt i'll be off playing Firefall, Defiance and Wildstar, because fantasy MMO's are getting real stale real fast.
Anyway once the hype wears off after 1 month and the fanboys pipe down, we will see where we are at, and what the next big game will be.

I just find it funny how you think you're the self proclaimed defender of gw2, i've been reading your posts laughing at how you think the game is the be all and end all of MMO gaming.
I used to think like that once, when i was young and naive..
It will be the same as the last 10 MMO's.. big for a few months, till the next big thing.
Me personally, i'm waiting for the ultimate sandbox, Archeage looks ok but meh it's asian, and they don't translate well.
Don't get me wrong i'm excited for the game too, me and 3 other mates have bought it. We're currently raiding Infernal Dawn in RIFT, for us GW2 will be a filler between raid nights. TBH RIFT isn't even that great, i just log in for the raids.
Totally agree. Seems like the new generation of MMO players are discovering the things the old ones did years ago. Its all following the same formula with MMO releases, big hype on gaming forums months before the launch, everyone shouting about the next big world changing game. One or two months after release the game will show its true character. GW2 will not be any different. This game has brought nothing new to the genre it is only combining few previous hyped games and removing some of their features while adding some minor ones. RIFT + WAR + WoW - Open PvP + More instancing = GW2.
I find it kinda sad that people keep supporting these copy paste themepark games. It will not help the genre to evolve (back to its previous state) when the investors find the WoW clones profitable. Even I am thinking about buying the game just because every game release is a fun event (and testing MMOs is like a hobby to me), even if it lasts for a week. Maybe one day the AAA game investors find sandbox games profitable.
Anyways back to the topic: I also find it weird not seeing any GW2 posters around..

I hope one day Guild Wars 2 gets some sort of hype. Maybe Fox News can show advertisements leading up to the presidential elections.
