I went through that agony the last time and got most of the fabled items in the first event. No way I am spending another week solid of camping and lists. I will let this one pass me by.

Judging by your SIG and Avatar (Nice work BTW), you care more about EQ2 than EQ1 now anyway.
So of course your not gonna spend a solid week camping them. You have to be a dedicated EQ1 player and put alot of effort in to get these items... as you apparently already know.
Thats what EQ1 is all about, reward for dedication and effort. Unlike other Everquest games I could name.
I got the Fabled Mithril BP and the Fabled Mithril 2hander last time around. I was very pleased with both items (upgrades for the 50-something SK that I got them with) and I found the camping to be utterly painless for one and annoying for the other. I didn't bother with them til week 2 or 3 of the celebration, so there weren't quite as many people there. I think a lot of people had been put off by the initial rush or got their stuff in the first week or so.
The Fabled Froglok King camp was particularly nice, since it was just a bunch of pallies and SKs, and people were sticking around to help the people who were in line behind them, for as long as they could stay, so there was no need to bring a group or whatever, and everyone was quite agreeable. The list was also short, since it wasn't a really popular item, compared to some of the other ones in Lower Guk.
We went with people we knew to SolB for the BP, and a couple of people got it, though it was hours and hours and hours of camping. Other fabled items dropped in the area, so some people got those and went away happy. It was kind of annoying that the priest didn't seem to spawn all that often, and we weren't able to stay to help all our friends who wanted a BP to get one.
Anyway, I am finding that I am somewhat tempted to resubscribe to get more fabled junk for characters I haven't played since December. Is that crazy or what?

Whatever, that was completely ignorant and childish. I played EQ 1 since released and have put in my "dedication" more times then I care to think. And excuse me for CONVERSING here in YOUR threads. Heaven forbid I not be all excited and giddy and yet more new loot.
As for your personal little attacks at a game and me, grow up.

Falbed Mithril BP * 2 Fabled Yak * 3 Fabled FBSS * 3 Fabled Golden eboots * 1 Fabled Executioners Axe * 1 Fabled Jboots * 4 Fabled Staff of Writhing (who cares) Fabled Mithril Bracer * 2 Fabled Black Chitin leggings * 1 Fabled Sheild of the Slain Unicorn * 1 Fabled Bloodstain Mantle * 1 A few other things I can't recall at the moment, oh and I quested my Nagafen Wand with my ranger. But as someone else so kindly pointed out I am apparently not dedicated enough for Everquest 1 and my opinion on it isn't worth anything because I play Everquest 2 now.
I love the game, I still pay for it, haven't played it in awhile however, EQ II has me completely absorbed at the moment. I just don't feel like investing that kinda time around my job again to get yet again more "phat lewt" to make me "uber" yet again. I am sure after awhile I will start back into it casually again however.

I was just commenting on my experience with the last go round. I didn't particularly feel the need to go collecting stuff. Both my son's bard (Velious era) and my husband's cleric (from the pre-Kunark era) got their fireworks sticks, but I didn't bother. Call it a lack of dedication or a lack of interest, but I just picked up the two items that I wanted specifically for my SK, since I was still so depressed that they wouldn't restore my old SK, and I'd rather camp for equipment than buy it in the bazaar any day of the week.
I often played with the personal rule that I wouldn't wear it if I didn't loot it or quest it (or buy it with points, in the case of LDoN gear)... I know that goes against the grain for many people, and often keeps me underequipped compared to what I could buy, but it makes me feel really good when I open my inventory and remember what I got where, and what I had to do for it. (I did have a few out-and-out twink characters, but those are generally ones that I am least fond of in the end.)
What can I say? I stopped being dedicated the day I deleted that 65 SK out of sheer frustration, and then made a bard with the same name, just because I couldn't stand any more of the "my sword is bigger than your sword" BS. Just before I deleted my SK, I cussed someone out for a snide comment made in passing (about me playing alts), and that's when I knew I needed to chill and not take it so seriously. I've hated having to start over from scratch, I've missed that SK, but I don't think I will go so far as to say that I regret deleting her. If I hadn't, I'd still be playing the same old game with the same old people, and hating it. I don't think that being dedicated to a game is a virtue.
I value your opinion on EQ1, even if some other people don't, because I know you played seriously, you still care about the game, and you think before you post. The fact that you are playing something else now doesn't change that, imo. I'm not currently paying for EQ1 because I am paying for WoW, and I only play one game at a time, but I am seriously considering a return to EQ, and I never stopped caring what was going on with the game. I'd rather hope that my thoughts were still welcome, even if I am a WoWster at the moment, and I am sorry your opinions were attacked right off just because you're playing EQ2 more right now.

Thank you very much neschria, you just made my day with that post. I can understand what you mean about the my sword is bigger then your sword mentality, that started grinding on me about year 3 in to the point where I was really considering quitting a few times. At that point I just stopped with the nonesense and played with a very specific group of people and only them. I stopped worry about the market for the most part. I did buy alot of gear, with money earned from crafting, that doesn't bother me to do. I am really imperssed with you actually going on the loot or quest only idea that, I remember many joys from doing hard camps and hard quest to get a really awesome item (like when I camped grimrott and got the Aegis of Life, UGH, that was a long long camp).

Your animosity towards EQ2 and EQ2 players is a bit misplaced Faru. We paid our dues, and we got our rewards for it. Just because it was time for some of us to move on is no reason for hostility. The truth is EQ players and EQ2 players are kindred spirits - or at least should be. Life presents enough opportunities for conflict .... don't manufacture them.
And of course since I am started, WoW are orcs, so many of them!
That pretty much resume the relations between those 3 groups of players, High elfs are snoobs and looking down on the wood elfs...and they both are often at war with the evil orcs!
CoH players could be the North Freeport human faction(Marr knights of I dont know what), which leave the others humans for NCsoft products who have the biggest players based althought I dont know them much and hardly share anything with L or L2 players. And SWG are definitely the gnomes!

Then why make it sound like your still playing the game and due to week solid agonizing camps (obviously there are none of those in EQ2 they are all fluffy and wonderful camps) you are going to "let this one pass you by".
You arent even playing the game, no kidding your going to let it pass you by. If I was playing EQ2, I'de let this one pass me by too.
You can play on words and call me childish if you like, the fact is your subtle message was, EQ camps take to long and are painful, your statement about passing them up is purely propaganda, you yourself admitted dont even play the game anymore.

Sorry if my opinion of your opinion upsets you, but we are all entiteled to them.
What upsets me about EQ2 is, I bought it, I played it, and I realized, it shouldnt even be called EQ2. It is a completely different game. And the fact that it has the EQ name is inadvertently screwing up EQ because alot of people left for it thinking its the next logical step. Inlcuding me. So yes, I am annoyed. Because its named something it shouldn't be and anyone with 1/2 a brain buys the thing with the #2 on it if its out, it will totally screw up the influx of population into EQ1.
Thusly at an exellerated rate, due to EQ2 using a name it shouldn't be, I am going to be stuck playing a sub-par game (Like WOW or EQ2 or something). As we see, the servers are already starting to be merged. And its not because the game is outdated, the recent updates and expansions are on par with EQ2 (sans the character models).
And another thing I thought of... yes it is my thread. Hit your back button once or twice and see who the originator of this thread is... me. I put this thread up to celebrate the 6th aniversery for EQ players. Not to have the camps bashed by EQ2 players.

Consider EQ players are Wood Elfs.
Consider EQ2 players are High Elfs...
