Ambros: For pve leveling and dungeon quality (but not quantity yet) tsw delivers. For a casual or semi casual mostly pve player its the best game on the market now.
It's not for me long term though as I like quality pvp endgame, but its a very good game for a certain audience.
It's not for hardcore pveers either, they would be better off with wow.
Originally posted by ShakyMo Drac: TESO has no tanks and no agro mechanics. It has healers though, but its not a trinity game.
Not that there's anything wrong with trinity, I don't mind it in games like tsw and eve where you can freely swap in and out of heal mode or tank mode. Or coh where its loosely defined and you don't need all roles.
There are two things wrong with the Trinity.
1. Not enough people like playing certain roles. It doesn't matter how easy it is to switch if the enjoyment isn't there.
2. It's ridiculously artificial and requires enemies to be stupid beyond belief.
I see a lot of vague statements and nothing that really confirms it isn't in TESO. They do talk a lot about industry standards, etc, etc. Saying there's "no aggro mechanic" doesn't really make sense. Monsters have to decide who and how to attack, and that's the aggro mechanic. Anyhow, I get skeptical when developers start talking a lot about "industry standards". TOR looked like it wouldn't have the Holy Trinity for a time either, but more and more they talked about "industry standards" and low and behold, they ended up having it.
Well I have hope for FFXIV: A Realm Reborn, The War Z and looking forward to seeing what Blizzard new mmo is. I would like The Elder Scrolls Online to be good but that isn't happening so far.
I'm not excited by Titan. Activision-Blizzard has gotten way too interested in monetizing everything as much as possible. That's going to eat away at Titan, I think.
GW2 will hopefully be great and your time reading this post has been waisted. BUUUT, what if it isn't. What is the next big game to hopefully revolutionize the genre or at least breath life back into it? Some F2P title? Something in 2012? Are we going to be waiting up until Titans to hopefully get our fix?
Whats the next big thing AFTER GW2?
don't really waste time on what ifs. TItan maybe? not in 2012 tho
I'd have to say Archage for the next Hype Monster. I would have gone with PS2 but this splitting of the customer base between SOE and PS71 has me concerned. I was quietly anticipating good things from PS2 but I'm not sure I'll even bother now.
titan is very hard for me to say anything about because quite frankly we dont know if its vaporware or clever marketing (lies) on blizzards part. they keep talking about it, but quite frankly hasnt even done a trailer or a small video and supposedly have been working on it now for 5 years or so. I have no idea what to even think about this game or whether or not its real and not just some ploy by blizzard for whoever knows what reason. I cant think of a reason as to why they should not be telling the truth but after this long you would think they could show some concept art or a trailer or a video of some gameplay to prove they have been working on a game. I guess they are waiting to milk everything they can out of wow before they do anything with a new title considering two blizzard titles will probably compete with each other for blizzard fans.

what?
clearly the title goes to TESO and Archeage is the next Darkfall in terms of hype that this forum gave that game.
WB & Turbine are proud to present Harry Potter Online.

Undead labs Class 4 and CCPs World of darkness online.
Maybe Archeage as well.
You might not even heard about Class 4 yet but it have one of the best and most experienced teams in the genre working on it and you will hear a lot about it in the not so distant future.

Just watch.
I would love to see a halo mmo, just hoping the new studio will be able to match bungies always great gameplay with halo 4 first. As for the next hyped game I can see blade and soul getting hyped due to the combat system that will appeal to a broad range of gamers. Arche age is already building a good hype as well around these parts. I don't think ps2 will be as big as others due to lack of pve= a very uncasual friendly game, but the hype might be huge. teso I think will dissapoint most due to not being what people expect from an elder scrolls game, especially the fans of the series.
As soon the contracts are in stone, we will see the next Hype Train (i would not call it so but yeah) for ARCHEAGE. That is the only one on the Horizon which will influence the MMO Community.

Philosophy of MMO Game Design
Swtor looked like wow in space with a story gimmick from day 1
TESO devs have said there's no agro mechanic in the game, dungeons and their mechanics will probably play like gw1

I dont think expansions really count as "the next big thing"...
Aerowyn's Video Compilation of ALL things Guild Wars 2
I think ArcheAge maybe.
Don't know why someone said Planetside, it's not really something most MMO players can look forward to unless you happen to love FPS.
