I'm sick of all these threads about, GW2 worst launch of 2012, serioulsy.....the game is still in pre-launch !
just because you hate the game and you take advantage of the fact almost all fans are playing the game right now instead of being on forums, does NOT make your stupid ideas RIGHT.....!
GW2 official launch date is August 28th put up and shut up....!
as far as pre launches go this one has been (at least from my experience) one of the best ones yet.
Let's cross our fingers for a near perfect launch on the 28th.

1- Attacking "haters" like that doesn't make you look good at all
2- Saying things like "stupid ideas" is also very bad, specially since nobody gave any ideas at all.
3- If it's a pre-launch, which it is, this is the main launch of the game
4- You don't have to worry about a better release on 28th because the majority is most likely already in-game, so the worst is over. Just like with all other mmorpgs.
5- There's already a good portion of threads like this.
Played RIFT for 6 months - meh, boring
Played GW2 for about 2 hours today - WOW.
Even the character creation and opening story was so much fun, I had to create several different openings.

You do know that 'pre-launch' is still an actual launch right? Much like games claim to be in beta yet still offer all the full game service and cash shop.
Just because your a fanboy of the game doesn't mean this game DOES NOT follow the same rules as other games. It had a rough start and like it or not, it WAS launched. The second the servers go live, the second its counted as being released. Not to mention they even have the cash shop already up and in play, so you can't even try and use that excuse like others tend to do.
That being said, should everything that happens be held against them? Not completely, a launch will NOT be perfect no matter who does it. Their initial launch was terrible, but at the very least they fixed much of the problem areas relatively quick which was good.
I'd like to counter that with an argument that fanboys are so blinded with their love to Arenanet they don't know what a launch is.
Access to the game is being sold in massive amounts, game service has been started and the plan is to continue it as uninterrupted as possible until the time the game servers will be shut down forever, the characters created now will stay with players permanently, and even though it'll be updated and bugs will be fixed Arenanet has judged that this version of the game is good enough to satisfy their customers. The game has launched.
Arenanet announcing the launch date as 28th is marketing trick used to direct the customers behaviour. Nothing more, nothing less, and it won't change fact that the service has been started and game has been launched.

The game is now live, call it what you want, launch, pre-launch, headstart, it's all semantics.
I even saw a post claiming it was "post-beta"....that was a good one

it is a launched game, a launched game that has had issues just like every other game at launch.
will gamers ever learn to not have crazy and unrealistic expectations?
its why these games get so unbelievably hyped to begin with and then some of those same people cry when launch is going rough.
this will happen to every single highly anticipated game that will ever launch.
just wait until people start complaining about endgame, the same ones that swore up and down that there doesn't need to be any kind of real end game progression.
None of it matters. In a month or two this day will be a memory and no one will care that the pre-purchase launch was down for several hours. Let it go and if you are a fan just play and let the haters hate.
