if you don't like the phrase beat the game then can perhaps looks upon it as they beat the leveling aspect of the game.
A lot of the fanbois seem very defenisve about the speed at which players hit GW2 level cap, but that's just the way ArenaNet designed it. THe game is fun, it's just not very demanding. A lot will probably focus on PvP and WvWvW long term as that puts player skill into the equation.
And that is the point. With WvW in mind ( and the complete redoable pve content with any level) it is more or less not relevant to hit max level. So better its faster than not. No need for it, like it was in DAoC to play month to reach cap, and be able to play RvR seriously. The game just starts at level cap (or in the case of GW2 not even that, because you will be uplvled anyway, so it may even start from day one). And by the way.. level progression, gear progression is so much a thing of the past, we should just drop it completely anyways.. and think of better ways of progression without seperating the community, or to create barriers to entry.
get real...
you may get upleveled in WvW, but you dont unlock anything that as true level 80 character has.
Elites, and all the utility skills are locked by a level requirement. a level 2 player jumped to 80 still wont have access to these.
this is why its more fun being a level 80 than a lower level because you have access to everything including traits.

Well the thing is though he can now just use the character to play the game properly and actually do most of the content without being to overpowered. Guild wars was never designed to make it hard to be max level.

Yikes, bite your tongue! Some of us like gear progression games, obviously. What we really need is a varied MMO gamespace, with no-progression, high-progression, sandbox, etc. Choice is better than uniformity. There's no need for the GW2 model to produce an army of clones like WoW did.
Will gratz i guess, but once my wife gets in a reads this i will more then dcide our choice on buying this game. she hates games that make it easy to max out and in one day good lord ..... I really thoughts the 80 levels in gw2 was going to be a game for the future and many many months of play.. now we can reach max in a few days and that is not really worth 60 bucks and the 150 i had prepordered for coll. ed.
so i guess like this guy my question is what is next for us mmo players , anything out in the near future that is an mmo not a two day end game finish ?
i really never thought joining in on the 28th would put us so far behind this person and all other will kill the market .. sigh .

It is what it is. Over the next few days there will be many more 80s so why worry?
I have been playing countless hours and am only level 15.
Beacuse of the way the lvling sscales that is the time to go nearly 1/5 of the way. You may go slower from here on in or faster. The game was designed to make leveling very easy and it is for most!
But, What I wonder is if the guy was sitting on the toilet while he was playing the whole time. I mean the guy wouldnt even have time to get up off the puter to take a dump.

I know some people absolutely have to be first to max level for some reason but I've never been able to figure out what it is. Can anyone explain it to me? What's wrong with just playing the game and having fun? What is this burning desire to max your char out in the shortest time possible, bypassing the majority of the game's content in the process?
Anyone?
For me I want my money's worth out of the game and I don't see how you get that speeding to max level.
So i wasn't wrong when i said someone will want to achieve world first with in first 48 hrs
This ws bound to happen and yet i was repeatedly told it won't happen in GW2.
who told you that?
Guildies, had some discussions with people in game, even my friend said nope 'won't happen'. And if you have a look through my post history you will see few saying it won't happen because there is no reason to rush to 80 in GW2.
And there's STILL no reason to rush to 80, but that never stopped anyone in ANY game.

The simple fact that you can make it to 80 in less than 24 hours /played is just mind bogglingly hilarious. I mean HILARIOUS.
I'm predicting ghost town in 3 months.
Because its free to play the game is perfect for PvPers who like a high fantasy setting. Yes there are other games there, but that's the folks who will play long-term I think.

You missed the point.
@Red
I dont know why she would hate it. Being Max level isnt the end of everything fun.
You simply unlock the most features. Non of the low level areas become useless.
So am not seeing the complaint here

he missed 70% of the game you mean, if 400 people in your guild + friends send you all crafting mats you can level like he did.
Now do it solo and come back.
