there are two things i see written alot that i cant stand...."that being said" and "hehe." the latter i see used in MMOs quite alot and it grates me to no end!
has anyone ever heard someone laugh that sounds like "hehe?" ...nope never! so stop using it alrdy. try "haha" or even "yuk yuk"
why do we need to even spell out a laugh? it makes no sense. or, why dont we use something like "twf" (that was funny) or just "tf" (too funny)?
"lol" or even "roflmao" are different. they tell someone that they laughed in shorthand. i think they are better suited though.

One of my pet peeves is when people in game feel the need to correct your spelling or grammar. Another irritation is when people group with you, but as soon as they get what they came for suddenly they have to go.
But back to your pet peeve, 'Yuk yuk' ? Where are you from that you have heard laughter like this. I have never heard anyone ever make that sound when laughing. 'Ha ha' is also very rare to here. Maybe an android would say, 'ha ha' if they were trying to approximate joviality, but usually laughter is not confined to two syllables only.
I feel using excessive internet shorthand (and texting shorthand) in MMOs is a sign of either an uneducated or a lazy person. Most educational instructors would also agree that using shorthand often tends to cause it to leak into formal writing. Some examples of the shorthand I am referring to are: "LOL", "ne1", "sum1", and "sk8r".
That said, I do not criticize them on the spot for using the shorthand. It only gets irritating when I have to spend extra time to understand what their message was. I typically ignore them if it gets that bad. If you're one of those people, consider taking some typing lessons if it really takes that much longer to type "anyone". I would definitely prefer to see "hehe" as an expression of humor instead of "LOL".

I'm trying to figure out why you thought anyone would care about this. Hehe is an Internet staple. It's not going away anytime soon.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.

As with everything of that nature, the use of hehe is a matter of fad/popularity or of specific intent as thought of by the writer. It could last forever or be gone in an hour. That is the nature of how things like this work.
Lastly, in an internet where people mistakenly think trolling is a good thing( often they use the term incorrectly to boot ), do you really think presenting the question and pointing a light at it will help or hurt the chances of your desired outcome?

That being said, hehe!
teehee
a yo ho ho
"hehe!"
I'll add another major irritant:
Why do you end every sentence by sticking your tongue out at me?
Hedonismbot: Your latest performance was as delectable as dipping my bottom over and over into a bath of the silkiest oils and creams.
Everyone has something that irritates them.

Trendy cliches that irritate me (not that anyone cares, but I love to vent in a thread like this):
That's all for now. I'm going to go play.

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
