Should I Still Play This Game?

SathnorSathnor Member Posts: 32
So far I'm liking almost everything, right now getting bored due to burn out though. I personally think this is the next-gen mmo, as in it made many improvements and is much different. However, my concern is that this game might not have enough endgame content if  I don't like the pvp that much. The reason I don't like the pvp is too much running, not much battle, have no idea what's going on. Either that or maybe you can tell me how the pvp actually works.

No offense, but the fact that you have to ask strangers that will all give you a different bias answer leads me to believe that you only bought this game because "everyone else was doing it".

I guess the bright side is that you never have to pay a sub and can log in from time to time.

This game has plenty of content to keep people busy a long while. You have to consider the dungeons all have additional paths after their stories have been completed. In addition to that you have the events on Orr and all other high level world bosses. Additionally, crafting and minigames should also keep people occupied. Players have to slow down and appreciate the game. Don't level fast, take your time and explore the small things. Doing that will make your gaming experience better and give it more longevity.

The pvp will get better as the community gets more acclamaited with the ins and outs imo, I'm a total newbie to GW and PVP in general but my friend walked me through a few matches and i was able to pick up the learning curve quite easily. As far as endgame content, ill refrain from commenting until I actually experience the endgame, hope this helped

Burn out and bored in less than 2 days, you have to be joking. Even if you played the beta weekends that's probably a sign that you should pick up 3 or 4 more hobbies...

I meant burnout as in I'm just gonna take more breaks and play some BF3, however  I still do play a bit from time-to time. Maybe later I will get in to it again.

This is a PVP game just like Warhammer is, the is no boring raiding pve endgame, u know this is the wrong game for u . why ppl buy games when they have no idea what it is about. this game is pvp till ur fingers bleed. If u want "pve endgame" go back to... u know

Careful. Last time a new game told people to go back to Wow, they did. Now that game is an empty $200M wreck at the bottom of the ocean.

To clear some things up I bought the game because of the other cool features like dynamic events no subscription, cool combat, etc. Anyways guess I'll learn to like the pvp, looks like I could get into it.

No sub. Give it time to fix all its launch problems. Mail only started for me late last night.

Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play?

You can get into it! Have patiance, ask in /map , /guild , etc. As a side note, I didn't knew much about crafting, and it kinda toke me a bit to figure it out what-the-hell-is-going-on. But after succesful manage to craft some armors, and started to understand the crafting proccess, well ... I started to do what I didn't did in other MMO's! Mining, Gathering, etc :)

Btw, I need mats you know? Do you sell any ? :D

I'm sorry what? did you even reach level 80 yet? no? then why is your question relevant? seriously, either this is an attempt at being a monter-under-the-bridge by sugar coating the post before throwing some misinformation out there, or you really haven't given the time into the game to actually ask that question, when you reach Orr then you can ask these questions. seriously. this is headstart 3 gimme a break.

I would suggest checking out Aerowyn's video list there's on in there about the end game and meta events to give you an idea of how it works.

Not trying to ruffle feathers but these types of posts just seem suspicious anymore. smh

Players can build waypoints in WvWvW if they get their act together. Eventually everyone will learn and there will be less running to get to the action.

I'm with ya though OP.. I'm burning out pretty fast as well. When there are no map markers left to run to who knows how we are all going to feel.. so far it's pretty much a snatch and grab map marker game, with the occasional side cave you can wonder into if you feel like it. Seriously, the whole drive of most players so far is 100% map/area completion.. then it's move onto the next map. Who can blame us? That's how you get the best rewards.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

No, I haven't gotten to 80, but I don't want to invest time into an mmo that has no endgame with no future. Also I've heard in many places that Guild Wars 2 has no endgame content, which made me a little concerned.

PvP will take time to get used to. Like with any new game you need to take the time to learn your skills, your opponents skills and all the ways that conditions can work.

I don't expect to know half the things that are happening during PvP, i am still getting used to the boon icons. I just got familiar with conditions that can be put on enemies, the boons I got familiar with are swift - running and cast speed, regen - duh, might - stackable intensity damage buff, protection - 33% damage reduction duration stack.

I don't know what 80% of the circles do in pvp right now. I have no idea what enemy animations mean except for the huge piles of rock or fire that suddenly appear.

I burned out after about 15 hours and just crashed into bed. Also finding human story meh, I just love the asuran story too much but I want to pla my necro XD.

Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play?

It is not about investing time, it is about having fun. If you have fun leveling up to 80, and then don't want to play anymore, what did you lose? time? Nope, because you had fun. If you're not having fun, DON"T PLAY! Would you still play if there was massive raiding at the end with tons of crap to get, but you didn't have any fun playing?

Edit: I can understand not wanting to start a game if you see no future in it, but considering you already bought it, if it is fun, no reason to not play it until you're bored, whether there is a future or not. And of course as I stated earlier, if you're not having fun, quit, maybe try again later, or even pawn it off on someone else.

    Exactly.

I myself am a little burned out due to the headstart bugs (grouping, overflow server everytime I zone, etc) but I paid the $80 for it and I play it in spurts until something gets on my nerves (the god awful cutscenes/acting or going to the wrong spot and having to zone back to where I should be only to get a pop up 3 minutes later telling me its ok to zone into the real server). At that point I go make a sammich, watch some TV, surf the web, etc until I get the urge to play again.

Guess what I'm saying is there is no need to play 24/7 and no real rush to cap out either. Enjoy the ride. You already paid for it, might as well make use of it.
