dude the true hordes of GW2 have yet to enter the game.

just wait till tuesday, when all the regular gamers actually get access to the game, and WvW will be something completely different.

That being said,  I think WvW is great. I very rarely dabble in PVP, but this has reminded me of WAR's keep seiges, but better, which I am 100% ok with. I think the way it was implemented will ultimately bring more people into the game, because hardcore PVE types will feel more at a home. It's like baby steps into PVP, and it is PVP with a greater purpose than just killing other guys for points or stupid mini games. At least, its designed to feel like it has a greater purpose.

DAoC eventually added NPCs that gave speed boosts to players at keeps, and would stay active for X minutes or until you got jumped. Considering similar speed boosts are already in GW2, I'd say that would be a good start. 25% movement speed increase boost for 5 min, falls off after 10 seconds in combat. Would make the fun from point A to point C a little less unbearable.

On one of the border maps, my server held a location mid map that did have a teleport stone, so we at least had a safe drop point. I was able to roam around a bit too solo, until I found some folks to attach to. I ran into a group of 3 enemies vs. me, and I was able to outpace them well enough to make them lose interest.

The only glaring issue at the moment is the queue times.

Barring a sharp death penalty, long runs back to the fight are the only way to really take people out of a fight and break a siege/take a keep.

If you could zip right back into the fight, the siege would only end when one side got bored and left.  Granted they could still reorganize and keep throwing themselves against the doors, but then thats their own fault.

I really like that the map is so large. I can agree that the PvE Guards are too powerful. Yesterday we were raiding a wall. A single guard could one shot around 15 players if they got too close.

And we got other people complaining that WvW has no risk.

There's a risk - now you have to run your happy ass back.

    Misleading thread title.

While it's unfortunate the OP is disappointed with WvW this doesn't yet mean WvW a disaster. It's hard to master WvW but it's not hard at all to go with the flow and learn basics step by step. That's what I'm doing currently.

It relatively easy to avoid PvE almost completely in WvW (except guards who are very easy to kill anyway).

MMORPG genre is dead. Long live MMOCS (Massively Multiplayer Online Cash Shop).

I actually wrote the OP, and want to say that this should be taken with a grain of salt. WvW is not a disaster. Despite my overly dramatic title, there is lots of fun to be had there.

I was coming off a particularily rough go of WvW at the time, and probably vented more than I should have. While the issues in the original post do exist, as others have pointed out there is often a reason.

I just got back from a friends house.  He has GW2 and was playing WvW and showing me it, and although I do like it, and don't really see the things the OP listed as a problem.  I did noticed that when you did run into a larger battle the game lags really bad.  His computer isn't a cheap on either.  He bought it just for GW2 and it was $1800 that he built himself.  He works for Dell, putting computers together, so he knows how to do that stuff lol.  It has top of the line specs and is like 3-4x the recommended specs in almost every category.  His group ran into a large battle and the game froze for a second, then he was dead lol.

Other than the lag in big battles, I have to say I like what I saw.  He wanted to drive me down to Best Buy to get my own copy, but I said I would wait a bit longer lol.  Let them get some of the minor things fixed.  I got a bad problem of overplaying a game until I run into a minor bug and then ragequit for a couple of days lol.

Edit: I should note he was playing on max settings too, and normally runs around 60fps, which it's capped at.

Well. i guess you have towait two weeks to get some better action. You server will be then matched up with more active ones.

On the other side, a lot of ppl just play pve up to now. Give them a week until they saw enough, and a greater amount of ppl starting to play WvW regulary. It is really to early to say anything about WvW. I guess the most action will start when the average gamer hits max level, and a lot of them will then focus entirly on WvW, or at least almost.

The funny thing is I think most that gets to level 80 in W v W will then be going back to do the PVE or start an Alt just for PVE,

This is truly a strange game that I have to decide each day which to play, PVE or W v W or sPVP so many choices.

Life is a Maze, so make sure you bring your GPS incase you get lost in it.

I agree that WvWvW is somewhat painful right now, but this will even out over time. Having said that, I am glad that it takes time to get back into the action, dying should HURT both you and your team. As mentioned already, there are ways to upgrade keeps with res points, it's just that no one is doing it yet. The game just went live, and the majority of players have no idea what they are doing. When everyone is max level, and knows what to do, WvWvW will likely shine.

Unless it remains an awful lag-fest, then the whole game is fucked.
