Originally posted by Boardwalker I think the art and environment of GW2 is solid. Nothing has blown me away yet, but it's a a step up, albeit not a huge one, from other high-fantasy MMOs. I'm pleased. That being said, I find the art and environment in TSW to be better. It's a good thing GW2 is free, otherwise I'd only be playing TSW.
I have to agree that the static art in TSW was fantastic, but the animations were just terrible. I am pretty leniant about animations normally but TSW's turned me off completely.
I think the Secrect World was horrible, and not just gameplay but honestly I was not impressed with the 5 years old FPS style graphics.
I have a hard time believing anyone would compare the two actually.
I thought the world art of TSW was ok. You have to take into account that fantasy art and realistic art are 2 different animals. Much easier to make fantasy art than a realistic portrait. I do graphite ( pencil) portraits. I can draw elves and goblins all day long , but trying to do a portrait and get it right is about 1000% more difficult.
A lot of graphic likes and dislike is subjective anyway, just like music. Kind of a each to ther own type thing. I love the textures and worrld graphics in GW2 as well as the character graphics. But the chat windows and the cutscene art does not do a lot for me. Love the game design though so it is growing on me Lions head is about the prettiest fantasy city I can imagine
There's more to explore then lion's arch, I already explored lion's arch in the beta weekend.
Umm...I think you missunderstood my post.
This thread is about art and landscapes, so when I sead swimming at the lion arch means it is a good example how well made the underwater landscapes are and how in general the world is built with attention to details, artstyle and visual apealing landscapes.
Ah yes I misunderstood. there are good underwater landscapes when you go in the sea u can see the old city that sunk from GW1. You see the 2 lions and you can go down deep into the sewer and see sunken ships.
