It won't let me post my review and I spent like 5 minutes writing it and I don't want that to be wasted so I'll post it here.
I've played to 30 twice now, once in the beta and now once at launch, I enjoyed beta because it was less chaotic. Here are my opinions.
I'll start with PvP because that'll be shortest, I don't PvP much in MMOs. I did find it enjoyable though, it's more than just spam your keys, but 8v8 can and will turn into a **** Anyone who takes PvP seriously should try 5v5, the maps are DESIGNED for 5v5. WvWvW is fun too, but can become a zerg, even if you don't want to zerg you'll find yourself following it, I know that actually splitting up is better and I hope people actually start to split up.
I've played PvE a lot more though. I really like the DE system, makes the world feel alive and is MUCH MUCH more fun than going to X, killing Y and returning, damn even if babies think "Well you still gotta kill things, it's the same!", it really isn't, you have to look at the big picture. My only issue is some of them respawn too quickly. Exploration is rewarding, while there's POIs and vistas, some you actually gotta look for, and I actually want to look for them, it's fun, sometimes you get carried away and get lost, more games need to do this. Some people are upset about the skill system, but I disagree, I enjoy having all my abilities at once. (By the way, there are builds still, people don't realize this because they probably haven't unlocked traits and most skills". Eventually you start to learn how to play your weapon, it makes a lot of classes play different, a sword mesmer and a greatsword mesmer plays very different. My real only issue was how slow EXP can come in, people can rush, and some people can go really slow, it's all based on time, if there's dynamic events going on, etc.

So I was reading some user review on metacritic, and I basically relearned why user reviews are generally completely unreliable. I know that GW2 has some flaws...but just look at some of these quotes from negative reviews:
"Unfortunately this is about the same as Guild Wars 1 so not exactly sequel-worthy." 2/10
"The overflow system is a disgrace. PvE is ripped from Warhammer," 2/10
"It's supposed to be the second coming of Jesus Christ in gaming history. Instead we are left with a game, that tries to do innovative stuff, but unfortunately fail miserably. Once you're past all that shine and glimmer, you'll see the game for what it is: A good RPG. Nothing more, nothing less." 3/10 (a good RPG gets 3/10...really?)

Highly doubt they made it real far in game and there are some issues going on as well as some that weren't even resolved by the time of their review.

Got box for nice pice and tried the game. Well, it's beautiful and fun as a sidekick but man that story they have wrote is god awful. My necro was so good that I was unable to continue with that toon and just deleted it. Much worse than Republic side in SWTOR...and that was supposed to be a necro
Without a sub it's an OK game but I'd never pay a sub for this one. I just think that games like FE and especially TSW have spoiled me. Haven't checked PvP in GW2 yet though but will do.
Overall I'd give GW2 a solid 8.5 for game design but no more than 3 for story writing because I think that part was done by a couple of 12 year olds. Waaaaaay overhyped but I don't regret my purchase and will play it as a good sidekick as I said above.
P.S. Anyone else gets annoyed by floating movement and weird camera?

This is the second time I've gotten the "whoa calm down buddy" argument lol. Which is annoying because if you respond to it, then that's proof that you're being defensive or whatever. And if you don't respond to it...then well, the other guy gets in the last word and basically wins. Now that, that is out of the way...
I am annoyed because it seems like many folks on this site apply a general rule to every video game that nothing ever deserves a high score, and if you believe that any game deserves a high score, then you are a fanboi. The same can be said for low score and "hater."
I however, like to examine games on a case by case basis instead of applying some kind of general rule, and expecting every poster to be basically ambivalent towards every care. My prediction is that GW2 deserves and will receive a metacritic score in the 90's. If I'm wrong, then you can gloat. If I'm right, then it pretty much validates everything I have said.

A really low number is way more extreme and further than the mean than a 10 in this case. I know you want to say it's ridiculous just because it's the highest possible number someone can give, and I'm sure there are some people who gave it a 10 for no reason.
But if someone gave it a 9.9...would you call that ridiculous? What about a 9.8? I would think that you couldn't possible call a 9.2 out of 10 ridiculous because the game will likely get around that on metacritic critic rating in the end...it has a 100 and a 94 right now. So if a 9.2 isn't ridiculous...then a 10 which is a whopping 0.8 points away is just "out of the question?"

So the issue is people expressing opinions that you don't agree with? If someone hates GW2, what is incorrect about the 0 rating? For someone who hates the game, it is unplayable. An unplayable game should get a review of 0.

I am not suprised at all. I have been saying for months that GW2 is a disgrace to the MMO genre.
Crapy engine and animations, combat designed for consoles and absolutely stupid design choices like complete lack of endgame, missing group mechanics (no tanks and healers), no customisation to the UI etc.
Anet made excellent and very aggresive advertising campaign where they managed to sell lack of features and bad game design as "innovation". I`ll give them that. They build it on hate basically. All those cluless kids who hate WoW simply because it is popular were rooting for GW2.

The funny thing is that I was painted as a major GW2 fanboi for just pointing out that a bunch of people gave the game a score that was ridiculous far away from the mean, and their reasons were pretty ridiculousy. But apparently, I must be a rabid fanboi because I didn't include some token ridiculous "10" scores, even though a 10 is much closer to the mean in this case.
I feel like there are essentially two sides lined up on either side ready to sling mud at each other, and unless you try to appear absolutely neutral in every post you make, then you will be categorized on one side or the other.
Well, I'm not going to say stuff that I don't believe just so I can give the appearance of "balance," when I think something is stupid, I will point it out.

I would think that you couldn't possible call a 9.2 out of 10 ridiculous because the game will likely get around that on metacritic critic rating in the end...it has a 100 and a 94 right now. So if a 9.2 isn't ridiculous...then a 10 which is a whopping 0.8 points away is just "out of the question?"

I called them idiots for giving a score tto same score to GW2 that I would have given to Duke nukem forever or the spawn video game for PS. I called them idiots for having absolutely no perspective.
So the issue is people expressing opinions that you don't agree with? If someone hates GW2, what is incorrect about the 0 rating? For someone who hates the game, it is unplayable. An unplayable game should get a review of 0.

I am not suprised at all. I have been saying for months that GW2 is a disgrace to the MMO genre.
Crapy engine and animations, combat designed for consoles and absolutely stupid design choices like complete lack of endgame, missing group mechanics (no tanks and healers), no customisation to the UI etc.
Anet made excellent and very aggresive advertising campaign where they managed to sell lack of features and bad game design as "innovation". I`ll give them that. They build it on hate basically. All those cluless kids who hate WoW simply because it is popular were rooting for GW2.

The funny thing is that I was painted as a major GW2 fanboi for just pointing out that a bunch of people gave the game a score that was ridiculous far away from the mean, and their reasons were pretty ridiculousy. But apparently, I must be a rabid fanboi because I didn't include some token ridiculous "10" scores, even though a 10 is much closer to the mean in this case.
I feel like there are essentially two sides lined up on either side ready to sling mud at each other, and unless you try to appear absolutely neutral in every post you make, then you will be categorized on one side or the other.
Well, I'm not going to say stuff that I don't believe just so I can give the appearance of "balance," when I think something is stupid, I will point it out.
