No matter how much I hate a game I would never give a 1/10 rating unless said game is broken or unfinished to the point of unplayability. Lowest score simply from just not liking it for me would perhaps be a 3/10.

I'm all for criticism but some of the posts on MC are obvious trolls. Broken quests? Buggy gameplay? One guy says that no game is worth 10/10 then proceeds to give it a 2/10. Seriously? Those comments are either created by trolls, professional or not, or some extremely butthurt individuals or both.
Exactly...I started a thread on this earlier and was told by several people that I was a fanboi, had an agenda, cared too much, didn't look at the other side etc. etc.
I don't think most people got that folks giving GW 0-3 are actual, completely genuine, trolls. There is no logical reason to give the game that low a score. And sorry, if it's your "opinion" that the game deserves a 0-3, then you really don't know much about video games.
I personally ignore reviews from users that give a game 10/10 or 0/10. I figure no game is really a zero, and a 10 is so exceptional it is near impossible. I really like guild Wars 2, and on my internal rating system I would maybe give it an 8. Or a 7.
Asking people to pick numbers is hard...people gravitate towards the extreme. Like when you ask what their pain is and tell them "10/10 is the worst pain imagneable", many people will be sitting there looking completely comfortable and still say 10/10. It's kind of funny.
I actually have real life friends (Mainly WoW players) That played Guild Wars 1 and hated it so much that they havent even looked at GW2, thinking it is the same as the first one. And no matter how much I tell them that it is tottaly different they simply don't believe me and have no desire to even check it out. That's how dumb and closed minded a lot of so called gamers are. It just blows my mind how so many people could be like that.
I have noticed lately that there has been more criticism towards the game...Prior to launch it seemed like everyone on the planet (or at least this site) loved the game....Since launch though there has been alot more negativity towards the game.....

Theres a reason for that...While they may be 2 totally different games, its still the hype that might be scaring people away.....I remember reading about GW1 here also and how alot of people were saying it was the greatest game ever, and then I played it......As a result, there are a few of us a little timid towards GW2.
Yin can not exist without yang. Gotto balance it out. How ridiculous it would be if all the reviews were 10/10?
What do you mean, almost all MMO reviews seems to be either 9/10 or 10/10 no matter what game they review. In fact if you took all MMO reviews in the worl and counted an average it would not be 5.5 as it should be but more 8 or so.
Ridicoulus enough for me.
But of course many people will hate any game, but I actully think there were more GW2 haters a month ag than today, that might be different tomorrowbut GW2 haters isnt something that suddenly popped out from nowhere, they been around since the game was intruduced 2 years ago at least.
Star Wars got an average of 5.6
TERA 7.1
Secret World 8.3
Age of Conan 7.3
For me they seem quite accurate as I felt TERA was just above average, SW:TOR a big dissapointment and Secret World a pleasent surprise (altough 8.3 is a bit over the top, I would give it 7.5).
And 8.5, which is GW 2:s score, is pretty damn good so not sure what people are whining about. The user score average seems to be much better than the "professional" review scores which seems to favor big money corps like EA.

not sure if you need to know all that much about video games to give an opinion if you like it. I dont know all that much about preparing an exquisite meal, but I can tell you if I like the dish. make sense ?
Some of those reviewers have a point. The overflow instancing and servers being full all the time. I'm sure it'll settle in a month or so. But being split up for your party because of the instance thing sucks. The slew of negative ratings is suspect though. And most of them are calling this "another medival setting". Theres nothing medival about this. Maybe in a certain part of the game theres some castle somewhere with knights on horse back.
but yeah, some of those opinions, like the comback not being that fresh, i can sort of agree with. GW2 isn't a 0 though. It's not a 100 either. For me it's more of a 80ish. Maybe it'll be a 90ish over time if I play a few more days. Right now though, just a tiny step above "good enough i guess" because theres no monthly fee.

You dont need to know.
All you need to know is that its a F2P mmo that you have to buy.
You even have to pay to expand your storage.
Good game or not, its ANET - you WILL get screwed, lol

And yet, in the end, that is the only thing that really matters to that individual. They don't have to provide a "substantial critique" because it's their opinion. You don't have to agree with them and they don't have to love your game. That what makes life interesting, we don't have to agree.
Right. Like the differences in group "opinion" that leads to wars. Those make everyone's lives very interesting.
Or the difference in "opinion" when someone declares that the game sucks, despite having clearly never played it before, or having played it briefly with the intent to use the experience to slander the game as best as they can. Apparently they're just trying to improve widespread understanding about the game by sharing their well-informed opinions.
You might believe that intentionally creating conflict makes life interesting, but I would much rather have life be a bit more boring and objective.
The fact that companies will pay people to write false over hyped reviews makes me sick. If I see 10 positive and 1 negative review I will go with the latter. The game might be the best in the world but because companies practice the false review method to pad the positives, I cannot trust alot of these "reviews". They are even posting as regular people on sites such as Amazon in order to make them appear more real but they are not. Recently a man was caught doing this for books and was about to expand his business to other things. He was raking in almost $30k a month padding peoples reviews. Just think, how many out there are doing this and getting away with it? I bought in on the past MMORPG hype trains but I'm too experienced to fall for it again. I'll wait and see.
Below is a link to the article about the fake review guy. This just goes to show that it does in fact happen. I really want to hold out until reviews by people at max level come out. SWTOR end game was a joke OPvP on Ilium actually made me laugh. I don't want to repeat that experience again though it was funny it was a waste of $60.

Ummm... since when does Anet have a rep for screwing people for money? Quite the opposite actually. Nice trolling though.
BTW, person who hasnt even played the game.... you dont really need to expand you storage. The people here complaining about it have completely overlooked the Collections storage, where it has seperate spaces for EVERY crafting material/collection in the gam,e all to themselves. There is very very little need to expand your storage unless you horde tons of extra stuff. And if you REALLY want to expand your storage guess what.... its FREE. Just farm some gold, buy some gems and omg guess what.... free storage expansion. Wow, theyre really ripping people off letting them spend in game money to buy anything they want while not even paying a monthly sub.... those filthy greedy a-holes.
Every MMO I have played that has come out recently has been fun until end game. So its hard for me to trust the game is actually good when I see people saying things like "Its the BEST EVAR!! BUY ITT! I'm lvl 23!!"
No, I haven't played the game but until all these "reviewers" get to the end game neither have they.
"I'm sorry but your mmo has been diagnosed with EA and only has X number of days to live."
2. The quests are the samething as usuall, expect you run into them instead of talk.... "warhammer'.
3. SPvP is really fun but it's only a few maps......
4. 3-4hour queue time for WvWvW.........
5. WvWvW is horrible, why not just copy Warhammer? It was seriously done much better.
I'm not trying to bash just stating the truth guys. I know most of you are in hype overload so you will bash my statements, but everything I have said is true. Althought some may disagree on statement 5. Also I play on jade quarry, so if you say the queue for WPvP isn't that long on your server, then i'm jealoous.
1. If you really care about AH at this point (what level are you anyway?) you can just come back later. The game doesn't have a sub fee anyway.
2. Hearts feel dfferent from classic quests. Less about grinding and more about story. Maybe there's still room fot further evolution but hearts aren't the "same thing".
3. Quantity vs. quality. And it could be even worse. In Rift you get 5 PvP maps and none of them is any good.
4. I agree, WvW needs more love. Queue time and server balance is quite bad at the moment.
5. What's the problem with WvW? Map layout in WAR was different but sieges weren't.
MMORPG genre is dead. Long live MMOCS (Massively Multiplayer Online Cash Shop).

About 4. Servers will be rotating weekly, so balance wont really be an issue. If it is, its only for that week. Also theyre allowing free server transfers for now, so if you dont like being on a higher pop one with really long queue times, or just dont like being on a server thats winning through pure numbers, you could always try a diff server which might get you in. Currently on Sanctum of Rall im getting into EB with no queue.

Lets be honest here Mephster. When you say 'fanboi', what you really mean is...anyone that enjoys GW2. And anyone that absolutely hates it, is realisitic and purely objective...right? That's pretty much what I get from every post you make. Everyone has an opnion, absolutely true...and some opinions differ from others, also absolutely true. But it is plainly obvious, for any objective human being, when that 'opinion' is purely out of spite and meant to disparage the game in question and the players of said game. Now, you can dislike GW2 all you want, I could care less...but a 0/10 score is not objective, even in the least. I really think that we as gamers, only hurt ourselves by engaging in this childish behavior of, 'My game is better than your game therefore i'm going to trash your game because it isn't my game'. Wow thank you for actually debating my points instead of giving the initial troll response.
My problem with WvWvW right now is, it really is just a big zerg atm. The team with more aoe/ranged = win. I know the games new and balancing is always a problem in all games, but dang this kinda sucks. And as asked by wowfan1996 I'm lvl 42 on my main currently. I spent most of my time debating which class to play in Spvp. Pvp lvl 9.
Lets be honest here Mephster. When you say 'fanboi', what you really mean is...anyone that enjoys GW2. And anyone that absolutely hates it, is realisitic and purely objective...right?
And yesterday we had a thread that drew the opposite conclusion, with similar reasoning.
 Business as normal, here on mmorpg.com. We've been through this before.

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
Again? Really? They're like how few compared to the ones raving about the game. Who fucking cares? Not like all the 10/10 are real winners either.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
I could really care less about what ratings folks are putting on any Game...I can usually tell in a short amount of time whether or not my Guild will stick with a Game for any extended period of time...
It seems pretty clear to me that GW2 is a solid Game...It's different...Not traditional...And so far that seems to be resonating positively in My Guild...So far...
But there are issues that could possibly derail this thing quickly...The overflow-not-being-able-to-Group-up bug is a HUGE issue, and better be fixed fast or they will lose Guilds like mine...Running around solo, or trying to figure out how to get in the same overflow instance, is not going to cut it for long...This feature needs to be seamless and EASY in an MMO...I need to be able to meet-up with a Guildy quickly to help, or to get help...It's a big deal...They better figure this out fast...
It's Guild Wars...Fix the Guild interface bugs...I'm the GL, and I could not update a Guild Upgrade yesterday...Guild funtions in a game called Guild Wars should be bug-free at launch or shortly thereafter...
I really don't have much bad to say otherwise...I'm still on the fence a bit no question...But it's definitely a good Game with great potential...We'll see how Housing, and Guild Housing is handled in future Updates...And as always, end-game content is going to be a REAL big factor...Though I can't see myself worrying about that for a while...I'm taking my time...

User stupidity does not = bad game, it = user stupidity - GW2 is one of the most intuitive and user/casual friendly games on the market. Period.
Either this person truly was an idiot, the worst gamer ever, or a troll - all of which completely discount their opinion.
If that's the kind of "critique" people are giving GW2, the game must be phenominal.
