What's The End Game?

ElementoElemento Member Posts: 62

Now, just to preface - I'm playing GW2, and enjoying it. But I have some questions that no resource is answering yet.

With WvW and combat for glory boosting you up to 80 automatically so you can compete on an even playing field, what's the incentive to actually get up to level 80 yourself? Is there some kind of end game?

Also, as someone who didn't play guild wars 1, I'm wondering - what am I collecting all this glory for? It seems orange level equipment and gems are free, and every time I level up I get a satchel with random goods in it that really just seem like different skins for the equipment. If I keep PvP'ing and collect a bunch of glory, can I actually get upgrades or different skills that will give me an advantage in battle? Or am I really just collecting this stuff to get cooler looking gear?

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

They removed the hated gear grind most themepark have. You now grind for looks.

As far as what endgame is, they did state early on that endgame starts at level 1.  Meaning your already playing what endgame is.

Im sure they will offer a $60 expansion in 6 months that actually include some for of endgame activity.

You PvP for the competition, not shinies, just like in GW1. There will be player hosted ladders, and I suspect there will be world tournaments for GvG just like GW1 had, with all expense paid flights to the hosting location if you are in the top 16 and cash prizes. Thats what sPvP is all about, e-sports and ego boosting.

WvW you get boosted to 80, but you don't get the subquent unlocks.
