How I figured out how to like this game =P

I was in beta for this game back last year, I tryed it out cause well, it was The Matrix XD Anyway, I tryed it for a week and just couldn't get into it, the fighting (To me at the time) was horrible and nothing except the eye candy really engaged me. Now this was the time when only operative was near complete and none of the other classes were in yet, so I had to go the melee way. I quit.

I then tryed it again, last month to see what had changed. Again I tryed to go melee (Martial Arts) because, well, its cool =P Again, I got my ass handed to me over and over again. The close combat system, to me, has a large learning curve, 'specially if you're used to auto-attack and special spamming from other MMORPGS. I almost quit again... But this time I saw something else, someone used a spell on me. Now I had never seen or even looked at the other classes. The graphics for spells intreaged me, so I decided before I quit I would give another class a go.

Well, let me tell you. I went Coder (Pet Class), and am having a blast. I feel more comfertable because unlicke close combat this is more origonal style mmorpg gaming. And I still get to have the martial arts, I just get to watch my pet use them while I blast away with viruses and shot guns =P

I still want to try the Martial Arts way eventually, cause its so cool. But I can play this till I get more used to the game. Plus, Like SWG, you can easily switch classes/skills with just a few clicks.

So my advice is, if you tryed this game and went the Close Combat route. And the Fighting system turned you off, I highly recomend you try some of the other classes (There are alot of sub classes), its what got me into it.

I think the problem is, that alot of people thinks the game is all about either using a gun or using martial arts or crafting. It took alot of blind exploring on my part to find out about the Priest, Mage, Pet, Buffer, Debuffer classes.

Coder isn't just a crafter class, it also has 2 different pet using subclasses. One where the pet shoots and/or heals you (Supports a close combat person) and one that tanks for you (Supports a Gun or Virus Thrower).

Hacker is basically the mage and priest type classes, with quite a few different sub classes. You got a Nuker, Healer, Buffer, and Debuffer subclasses.

Plus of course you have the spy subclass, but I havn't even looked that far yet. If you can look past the close combatness part of the game and look at all the other stuff it really is quit a good game. Plus the spell Partical Effects are really neat looking.

Anyway, sorry for the huge post. Just thought I'd let you know what I did and found. It aint to late to go pre order and get you early access box. If you don't like the game, just cancel your pre order.

excellent post. I am also going to go hacker since melee was what everyone went in beta, so everyone will probably do it in the live version.

I agree hacker and coder are very very fun to play.

Honestly there are more ways to play than just the three subclasses. I have a blast with everything really. One thing I like is being a spy. Granted, it's not really great for soloing, but when you're in a group, if your group interlocks them or just gets their attention, you can sneak up behind them and do a major attack. The best spy move is Punt, in which you sneak up behind somebody and kick them in the nuts ::::03:: Does a lot of damage too. However, if you're used to being support in a group, the Pathogenist tree in the hacker heirarchy is nice. Logic Bomb and other area attacks which are quite helpful. Or you can go Patcher, and even then you get choices. Do big heals to single people, or do heals that are AOE? Even then, some are buffer, some are debuffer, etc. The neat thing is that if you're ever bored with one way of fighting, you can easily switch to something else.
