Graphics are really nice, but they are artistically nice.  Technically they are in a range between poor and medicore.

    WTF?

Ill dumb it down a notch.

Nice artwork...like interesting design of mobs and landscape ect.

Poor graphics on a technical side...dx9 which is pretty much LOL for a new game.

your response is not even in context to what the other guy high lighted in red....

Exactly, so I'm still saying "Wtf?" at the red...maybe because I just left WvWvW so just got a bit confused.

I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.

I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.

P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)

Common Sense Logic = P2P logic is no better than F2P Logic.

Their "amazing" game engine only shows my characters crotch at character select, only shows player and character chests during story cutscenes, and characters and npcs disappear randomly depending on my camera angle with latest build.

Game is great fun, dont' get me wrong, but the tech behind it could be better :)

Taking everything into account, you could bump up GW2 a couple of spots, but it's still going to be behind FFXIV and TERA for sure.  FFXIV because of the ultra-hi-res detail.  Case in point, I can't max FFXIV, even with SLI'd GTX 670s, without overclocking both of them and letting them run in the 80c range (which I don't like to do).

TERA's animations absolutely blow GW2 (and any other MMO really) out of the water.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not a TERA fan anymore.  I played it for about 3 months and got bored pretty quickly with the lack of content, but the game is breathtaking.   FFXIV is unfinished, STILL, but I really am rather tired of seeing GW2 overhyped, even in areas in which it's clearly below other games.

What on earth are you smoking? Gw2 has some of the most fluid and cleanly interwoven animations that I've ever seen. Tera's stop and go animations really can't compare. on top of that you do everything while moving and the animation blending is just superb. The facial animations (if you bothered to pay attention to that detail) are top notch. Seriously...watch your player do certain emotes, like laugh...its quite impressive. Especially the human luagh.

It has to do with the game engine.  You know, what's in the topic title.

Disagree, it is definetly optimized for handling of big amount of players. 60+ players on screen and no problems.

There is not much what they can do to make ir more optimized, imho (from my experience writing engines).

60 players on screen isnt much in todays terms.

I know that in TSW their pvp handles 150vs150vs150 and given you need a pertty serious gaming rig to handle all that in decent detail...just watching my roomate play that game its impressive to say the least considering hes not laggin...though hes on a new computer with a gtx 670.

Ive seen some pretty crappy games try the mass pvp...hell even swtor tried and failed to handle ilum graphically on even high end and top of the line machines.

Stating GW2 can handle 60 players on screen and comparing its graphics to war and swtor then high fiving eachother over its awesomenss is hilarious however.

There is no such standards. Lower graphical fidelity = more players on screen without noticable fps drops. GuildWars have higher graphical fidelity then most of other games, only wow have same fidelity or higher.

And it was example, im on non-gaming laptop and playing wvw on high fps with 100+ ppl on screen. Don see a problem. Though it`s true that on some graphics cards/drivers have issues. So they did very good job, it`s insane to tell otherwise.

I love how gw2 looks, everything looks great and lots of the world areas are breath takeing. Tera is better pixel wise but i would much rather take the gw2 look over tera. This game will age very well.

People keep knocking DX9 without realizing that DX9 can do just about everything that DX10 and 11 can do. DX11 has a few small new features and some small technical fixes. The fact that microsoft even released a new DX version just for those small things is quit funny. The big reason behind it was to help push windows 7 just like DX10 was to push windows vista. Give a gamer an awesome looking DX10 game and he'll upgrade to vista. Give him an awesome DX11 game and he'll upgrade to 7.

Most people don't even realize what DX9 is even capable of. You know all of those super pretty Xbox 360 games and ps3 games that some people enjoy? Running on DX9...Granted the consoles cant render any dx version (other than the xbox360) and some pipeline modifying has to be done, the game engines are still......dx9. DX9 is very powerful. If it weren't it would've gone out already like DX8 and DX7.

I really like the art direction, and most of the game does look pretty amazing and feel very smooth, but that also makes it stand out so much more when they cut corners, such as with having low-res 2D art in place of 3D objects (a lot of railings on ramps and staircases) or having grass/foliage pop-up that is probably the nearest I've seen in recent games (yes, all draw distance sliders were maxed). And I really do think it's weird that they only support dx9...I'm not sure why they would do that.

Agreed although Enmasse didn't put as much effort into their world as arenanet and it shows with the Low res textures on the Environments. Seems to be the norm in asian games. Look at Aion; Great character models, really superb animations and spell effects, but the worlds textures were just awful.

Sounds like an issue on your end. make sure you have latest drivers and such. If you have Nvidia get the beta drivers...trust me. AMD i have no clue xD
