Mobs/AI too easy?

BennuBennu Member UncommonPosts: 46

Is it me or was the PvE way more enjoyable during BWE1? I see so many postings on different game sites that states the PvE is boring or the combat is too easy. If you brought back the difficulty of BWE1, I'd be happy. You would have to learn how to dodge, time skills properly, learn all boon/condition symbols, use surroundings, group, etc  or you would die to a gnat at level 1.

Now that  I think about, the game was crazy hard in BWE1. Maybe have the mob AI get more challenging as the mob level increases. Thoughts?

It does get harder as you level into different areas.

I think it's fine now. I still die pretty fast if I mess something up and/or don't dodge in time (mid-lvl Ele and Thief). Challenging enough, I love it. :)

Probably easier for some prefessions more than others. When I was deciding Ele/Guard I was getting whooped pretty good on my Ele, not do much on my Guardian. If someone is bothered by how easy the game seems I would recommend rolling one if the squishier professions so there is more risk.

In some cases have the mobs become easier yes, but far from all. It seems like they tuned up the scaling since then.

But then again, some mobs are really hard, we killed some harpy me and 20 guys, when we finally got her after one wipe me and a warrior were the only one standing. It was awesome. :)

Easy... only time I ever have problems is if I am swarmed, and skill won't do jack in those cases where you can't kite them around.

Try playing a mesmer, ele of thief... There is a rather big difference in difficulty depending on class.

Maybe a few nerfs instead should fix the difficulty. ;)

I havent noticed a diffrence between what we had access to in BW1 and now other than when I run into a large which makes everything infinatly easier. Later content though that we had not seen before isnt as much of a cakewalk as the lower stuff is. I didnt find the content in BW1 hard either. Did you ever think that maybe you got so used to that content during the BW events that it was just easier now?

Wouldn't it be more of a challenge if the mobs - specifically talking about humanoids - could cc and aoe like we can? Say you are doing a DE/heart and there are 10 people and there and 5 mobs. The players doing the most damage are immediately pounded upon. Also, let's say a zerg is doing a DE - I've found that staying in the back and casting from distance, my health bar rarely goes past half (and this only happens if all melee toons die..haha). I'd like to see mobs change targets and come after me and others like Leeroy Jenkins. I'm not asking for all mobs to have Champion level difficulty - I'd probably end up breaking my keyboard or mouse from all pounding, but what I do want to feel is the fear of death on every mob I face. What many of you said is also true - class choice will make a huge difference.

I'd be happy to say my skills have improved but I know that's not completely the case. I still can't even tell what conditions I have on me (well, except bleeding) or if  a guardian has a reflective damage icon next to their name...haha. But, i do get what you are saying. Perhaps I am looking at BWE1 through my eyes now and my skills have gotten way better.

<==== me, after reading your suggestion

If anything the mobs are too difficult!

Can we PLEASE someday get difficulty set servers? I am so tired people with so vastly different difficulty preferrences lumped together...

They can and they do. The difficulty is laughably easy for the first 15-20 levels. After that it ramps up and mobs do use CC and AoE, had adds. etc.

Different types of mobs can also fight each other and you can use that to your advantage during the more difficult fights.

I, a lvl 32 warrior, pretty much never have to dodge so something must be wrong.  The real challenge for me is in the story instances.

Must be your class then. As a thief, if I don't dodge I die in like 3-5 hits, depending on the mob.

    Pretty sure it's the Profession.

Warriors seem pretty darn easy-mode to me so far. Lots of Signets for Passives along with Active Use Abilities. Highest base HP in the game. Good armor. Dual Axe and Greatsword both hit hard. Weapon and Shield makes you even more survivable against Champions, and Mace and Shield in particular is the kind of "active tanking" gameplay I dreamed about on my Pally.

My Ranger, even with her pet, Dodges and Kites a lot more than my Warrior.

My Mesmer should be in Cirque du Soleil for the amount of gymnastics he has to do to stay alive.

Those are fun.  Was this epic content or normal stuff?

Only reason I don't die is the large horde of pets that follow me around everywhere as a necro.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

Melee enemies are definitely too easy to beat. I fought a swarm of 6 melee centaurs (5 levels above me) in Gendarran Fields solo, killed em all without even taking damage.

As for enemies preferring melee targets, that's kinda logical. Melee players are far more dangerous, and much easier to hit. However, I've had some tough mobs chase me while using ranged even though melee players were hitting them. I probably was doing more damage or applying more control debuffs or something.

Yea, I think that Anet overdid it with the warrior profession. The have the best survivability and amazing damage.
