I'd wait for free to play.

going back now is a waste of money.

may I ask what you are looking for in an MMO?

guild wars 2 has a lot of things that were promised for SWTOR but were not delivered:

    like

a fully explorable world (a few times bigger than SWTOR)

    real balanced and fun PvP

quasi World pvp through "World versus World"

    no grind

PEOPLE TO PLAY WITH outside of the hub areas

    it also has:

no gear grind, cross server chat, trade, mail, legendary items, meaningful crafting, pets, the whole gameworld is still available to play, get xp(yes, no typo), get loot for max level and karma, after hitting max level.

the game adjusts your level and health down to the area you're in, but you can get loot based on your real level and content is challenging.

real endgame through a massive endgame zone with interconnected event chains that require zone wide teamwork.

de facto 24 tough as nails dungeons that are harder than WoW's heroic raids

    and so on....

gw2 has no star wars content. so if it's lightsabers you want, they don't have them

but gw2 has about a hundred times the endgame weapon and armor sets WoW or swtor has.

simply because max level gear has no tiers.

so gw2 offers an insane variety of sets, but all are comparable in power.

your welcome, but it's not free per se... you have to buy the box...

and if you play it: don't play it like swtor... it's like 6 games in 1 and designed without grind in mind...

so you don't need to level...

I'm doing level 1-10 stuff with my level 30 at the moment and it's not faceroll easy or pointless...

and ignore those (and I told arenanet that in beta) idiotic heart events.... do them if you really feel like it...

not because of their meager rewards or because they are pointed out to you on the map.

they were put in to give some direction, but I think they distract from the game and serve no purpose.

I do them if they are fun or to complete zones...

the real rewards are in dynamic events, exploration and achievement/completionist stuff

play it like skyrim. assume there is always a hidden area to find and explore

You can still play through level 15 free. Might not be enough for you to judge the changes but come to think about it there arn't many changes to have changed. Game is still level up and nothing new.

To some of these other replies. What a shameless plug for GW2. Good grief!

Ah ok awesome! Thanks for the heads up, aye i will be buying the box. I loved skyrim and all the other elder scrolls games, played them when i was a teen.  That is good i can play GW2 like skyrim and just have fun, heck i still play the first elder scrolls game.

"Uh-huh. OK. That many you say. OK. Good to know."

Hi guys. I just got off the phone with Arenanet. They say Guild War 2's launch has been pretty good as have been sales. They also mentioned they don't really need people to directly pitch the game in out of the way subforums of their competitor's games, whether well intentioned or not.

There were changes?  Well since you unsubscribed there were some bug fixes, some kind of auto group finder (which is reported to have long waits because few use the service), a new PVP map, and a new 2 part flashpoint.

If you were looking for swooping changes, I don't think you will be impressed.  It became evident early on after launch that the budget was blown and anything that would be added would be more of the same.  Yeah in November you will get 10 new space combat missions, although by past history, most missions were just rehashed earlier ones with tougher enemies.

Any real changes were EA Bioware trying to get this game out of the beta stigma, which is close to happening, I suppose.

ladies and gentlemen a GW2 fanboy!!! Pretty much all what u are saying is a lie, im almost lv 40 on gw2, and you are lying about the game, so plz, stop doing it. About swtor, the game is good, the population is good, and the new LFG tool is great, a new content update is coming on september and after that, new content update every 6 weeks, and if u sub now you have cartel coins every month for the cash shop in november - december, and a new level cap is incoming, so if u like the game, should be good to work on your toons to be ready for the next expansion.

The game isn't very good, and the population is dropping daily.

    US:http://www.torstatus.net/shards/us/stats

    EU: http://www.torstatus.net/shards/eu/stats

(Only the first dozen servers count, the rest are locked as "DEAD" servers - nobody can create characters on these servers.  They are only kept up to prevent investors from knowing TOR doesn't have 250+ active servers any longer, they only have 26 (US+EU).  Apparently, investors are easily manipulated.

New content every 6 weeks.. Ahh yes that elusive speedy content update.  This is the 3rd promise for faster content updates, the first being when the game launched.  Buy into that, and I have an actual lightsaber to sell you, complete with a side panel for email access.

Personally I'm holding out for the 5th or 6th promise for faster content before I actually believe EA.

Might wanna try the trial up to Level 15, and then judge for yourself if it's worth it.

I wouldn't say the GW2 fan is lying, just selling in the wrong place.

As to you being near level 40 in GW2, considering that on average that takes 30-40 hours to get there on a game that you could only play from Saturday for a prepurchase or Tuesday, you sure play a game you don't ike a lot.

As to LFG being great, it's pretty bugged and not x-server.

As to new content coming out in September, a link to an official announcement would be magical.

    etc., et al, c'mon.

With all this being said it comes down to the setting, if you are not picky about the setting, by all means give GW2 a twirl, just keep in mind that it is a PvP game primarly and a PvE game secondary (in a way being the mirror to SW:ToR). If you liked SWtor for the setting i say hold out to the F2P launch as it will be a much better experience due to an influx of new and old players.

And with the solid surplus of servers even a massive influx of players should not make the game stumble to badly.

This have been a good conversation

I followed this game hoping it would get better (and revamped), and I can tell you there is no major content coming out in September.  F2P is in November, maybe Makeb too (or December+).  November being the magic month where EA gives another earnings call.

September could be the new operations, which I believe EA loosely said "was coming out next month", said over a month ago.  It's not on the PTR, take as you will.

Here, let me write an EA statement for the company:

"The rest of the promised content may or may not be delivered around or not-around this time period.  We want everyone to be satisfied."

Wow I should give EA interviews. =)

    Well I'm a bit slow.

BW has announced that the Terror From Beyond operation will definitely come out with Patch 1.4.

    http://www.swtor.com/blog/developer-update-%E2%80%93-terror-beyond

It seems there will be a new tier of gear? The wording is a bit awkward.

Anyway, when is 1.4 going to realease?

    Ready?

    Soon.

    In the future.

    Who knows.

I shouldn't be a hater since I love SW and wanted a Sci-Fi type game in my life... I just wish Lucas would get his act together and make something people would love once again (and use creativity like he did in his 20's & 30's)  :/

Oh and stop contracting to companies who see customars with dollar signs for eyeballs, damnit.

I'm still level 32... and I've been playing nonstop. weird

the populatoin on the last 11 servers in US is good because they forcibly removed the pop from the other 100 servers to fill them.

because over 90% of players have left

and pls tell me where I'm wrong about gw2 ^^ thx

ah btw: gw2, a non sub game allows you to buy everything with ingame gold.

    swtor,still a sub game, doesn't
