For the first 10 days I had EQ2 I played it hardcore, and every chance, but I got to level 13 and it took forever to level, now with mentor system its a lot easier, but theres not many people that will mentor me

I like the game, but if I do solo, I have to fight mobs in groups, and soloing with double xp still is slow

13 levels in 10 days aint really hardcore. So we can rule out burnout. Also, if the game is slow on 13 for you its a) not your game (and then I mean the general mmorpg thingy), or b) you might want to explore a little to find better ways to level.

Its not all about the ding. Thats advice equaly important for whatever mmorpg your going to try.

I've been playing EQII for a little over a month now and my Crusader is level 18, my Priest is level 16, my Sorcerer is level 15 and my Predator is level 12.  All of them are higher in their tradeskills than adventuring levels (but still in their teens).  Do I wish I could level faster?  Of course I do!  Could I level faster?  Of course I could!  All in all, however, I'm not finding the game boring.

If SOE made leveling easier and faster, it might spoil the game.  I could level faster if I wanted to travel in groups and concentrate solely on hunting.  Instead, I divide my attention between hunting and gathering resources for tradeskills.  As a result, all my characters have their vaults filled with pristine 8-slot storage boxes and their inventories filled with pristine 8-slot backpacks.  Most have at least a few crafted armor pieces and carry "home-made" food and drink.  All spells and skills are at Apprentice IV level, except for the higher ones that I still have trouble making.

All this makes it much easier for me to really enjoy the game.  My equipment is up to par; my spells and skills are above average for my level; and I'm not struggling too much with storage space.

I realize that lots of people won't enjoy playing "my way," and my way isn't the only way to play.  I've met many people along the way who have far surpassed me in adventuring level and have accumulated enough money to finance their needs otherwise.  There's no one way to play EQII.  You just have to figure out which way fits your playstyle and makes it most enjoyable for you.

Yup, it you found it that tough to get to 13 the game is probably not for you.  Mentoring can be fun, but it shouldn't be a need.  It's extremely easy to find single solo mobs ... hell they are all over the place.

Mentoring is a great social tool though ... i.e., so I can play my main with a friend leveling up rather than have to have an alt for that.

Cilasi "your way" is the way I play MMORPGs too - almost exactly.  I like to enjoy the journey - all aspects of it.  Seerms to me that is (was?) the basis of MMORPGs.  Unfortunately, we are in a sea of people who want to max out and "beat" games as quickly as possible.  God knows what this portends for the future of MMORPGs.

Well, I just said I played it hardcore, not always leveling, I love the game, but the community isnt all that great, Id probably play if there was like solo instances, and for free not have to pay, even if its just a miniature 5 dollars, but in a way, its not for me, instead of EQII I have been on Halo 2 :P

And I know its not about all th levels, but I find that getting a higher level and fighting boss mobs in a group is a really rewarding experience, and I love new skills etc, just the feeling of ding, I guess thats why I never have less than 4 chars on any game

Well, if your on Freeport side, at 13, you should be able to hunt the orcs outside Wailing Caversn fairly easy solo. Turn on your LFG button while your out there and you should come up with a group EASY. Hope that helps. I've been playing pretty slow. Have a 15 Predator and a 14 Crusader in about 2 weeks. The Pred is also a level 7 artisan.
