You couldn't bother coming here and talking about the game BEFORE it happenned, we sure don't need you running your comspiracy theories AFTER here. The problem with your argument is, is that the jerks posting here posing as mourning devs and admins are imposters, the people sending email to MMORPG representing themselves as devs and admins for mourning are imposters. When the real devs, admins, members of the mourning community complained to the MMORPG staff about the imposters from this board posing as us in posts, emails, ect. The MMORPG staff did nothing about it. They asked us to provide photo ID we were the people we were registered as. Now I ask you, how are we suppose to do that? Do you think my photo ID says JulieBlue on it? Do you think Tiamat's says Tiamat on it? Tiamat tried multiple times to calmly and professionally contact MMORPG about these issues that were taking place on this forum, that were creating havoc on his forum's and MMORPG chose to ignore him, once he gets angry about it and decides to lose his temper, just like the rest of us here have done, they suddenly they decide to stop ignoring him. The decision MMORPG made was to side with thier community, perfectly acceptable response, IF thier community wasn't the ones starting all this crap in the first place. ALL of this has taken place because an obnoxious nasty violent PK'er guild from SB, heard about Mounring on MMORPG, came to the Mourning community began thier usual forum terroist tactics they used over in SB forums for years. Cussing. Making threats of destroying the game. Making threats against long term community members. Claiming they were going to be griefers. Posting death and dismemberment, and scat photos. The Volunteer Moderators, attepted to make a stand, they edited posts , they locked threads, they 3-day suspended accounts. The harder they tried to stop it, the more pissed this PK guild became and the more violent and outrageous thier posts became. The Mounring Devs stepped in and simply said READ THE RULES. The behavior continued Again the Devs said READ THE RULES The behavior got worse, nasty posts were made calling the Devs alot of nasty things, but worse of all calling them Nazi's. What children in the US overlook here is calling people in Europe Nazi is the worst kind of insult. These people are the children of people who lived the horror of what the Nazi's did, these people live with constant reminders, and until very recently these people in Romania didnt have the freedom in thier lives, that these children in the US take foregranted. At this point the Devs got pissed, was it professional for a gaming staff to get angry, post angry, and act in anger? NO Was it human to get angry? VERY MUCH SO Was it right for a Dev to do a sweeping 3 day ban for anyone who had WTF in thier post? NO Was it done in anger and frustration? VERY MUCH SO ALL of this has been human nature. I guess the big argument here is, should game developers be above human nature? Should gaming companies be more professional? In all honesty I have to say yes. Knowing what I know, I could have written a review that drove the last nail in Mourning's coffin. But, I chose to make a choice, and I've chose to make a stand. It's not about the people, the personalality conflicts, the forum wars, ect. It's ONLY about the GAME. Ultimately, my problem with MMORPG, is that they CLAIM they are about the GAMES. However the decision they have made is about the human nature, not about the game.
There are 2 neat little fields in your profile called First Name and Last Name. And ofcourse they are not going to just delete the accounts because of your claims of an imposter, you hold no rights to the registered "username". The BS posts by the imposters have nothing to do with this arguement since NO one here beleived them, I even posted to you directly about them in regard to not to worry about it.
ONE however was legit, and Egomancer has comfirmed it, that was his threats and attempts to gain person user information in an attempt to form a lawsuit against a user here. That is the ONLY staff post here from the Mourning staff that I have ever seen that was taken seriously.
The rest of what your talking about has NOTHING to do with this. The few idiots that were flaming mourning here were dismissed by any sensible member here and life went on. I can't help Mournings problems with its virtual enemys and don't expect a fan site to have to monitor their messes either.
I have already stated what my beleifs and standing is about the due process of news and game updates here, and if I am correct they had every reason to remove them. If there is no communication between the development house and MMORPG.com then there can be no news, or anything of the likes here because they heavily rely on the developer to provide that information. I beleive you have misconceptions about this site.

No there aint but hosting written text saying that a company is involved in some kind of credit card fraud and not doing anything to stop it IS.. whats so hard about moderating your own forums and telling people not to post up ilegal stuff like that? and thats why it was al lremoved.. cause they KNOW they were in the wrong and had to get out b4 they got sued.
wake up mmorpg.com
I'd like to see what IGN , gamespy, gamespot, fileplanet would have done if someone was posting stuff like that. It would have been removed and banned with the quickness because thats the professional thing to do. But by ignoring complaints about it they were just SUPPORTING it here.
I got no problem with people standing up for themselves after being attacked for no reasons which is exactly the case here..

Considering the comments they are freely making on the official Mourning website you would think they would be throwing a party and putting mmorpg.com on all their block lists since they were removed so they never ever have to deal with this place again. Instead they come here to complain about it.
EDIT: And then they claim it was an imposter that said it and we shouldnt take it seriously!

So are you guys hypocrits now too? Because theres loads of "smart ass" comments and straight out vulgarity in this thread made by your members that havent been edited or removed.
A "smart ass" comment doesn't necessarily break the RoC. The comments put forward by Egomancer did break the RoC.
In regards to other members posts we are working through them and several members have been warned and had posts delete for various reasons.
I would also like to remind everyone to please stay on topic, this thread isn't about the moderation of the forums it's about the decision to remove the forums and members thoughts about the decision. While I understand that in expressing your opinion about the decision there may be links to the forum moderation here I would just remind you that the main reason for the removal of the forums was the direct communications of Mourning staff and not about the forum itself.
*Notice: The views expressed in this post are solely those of the author... got sick of holding backspace. ----------------------------------------- ParaTrooper, That guy that used to mod the MMORPG.com forums.
Indeed, well done MMORPG.com. I've been following Mourning only for a short time now, and what I saw of the design impressed me. Something, I do not know whether it was in the design of the website, or the animosity of the forums, put me off.
The company designing Mourning, and more specifically this Dave character do not strike me as altogether... honest, shall we say? I'm not one to ascribe to so-called conspiracy theories, but it seems altogether possible that this is a scam. I've heard some nasty rumors, and I don't like the way things are looking.
I'm sure that we do not know the full story. We may never know, but that suits me fine. I trust MMORPG has made a sound decision in this case, and I do not feel as if they are doing this to be snooty or arrogant. The mods here have been nothing if fair and decisive, and I trust their judgement. Afterall, its not like they're just banning Mourning outright, in secret without letting anyone know. They came forward claiming that they did not like the way interaction between them and the other company was going and made it clear that this was in no way malicious.
In effect, MMORPG.com is stepping up and doing what they felt was right. I don't think any of us can stand up and say this is wrong, because few of us have all the facts. Without these crucial pieces of information we must give MMO the benefit of the doubt.
Ok folks this has grown way out of hand, this thread has become a beast and taken on a life of its own. Its been an emotional rollercoaster for most of us on both sides of this issue.
Rumors and unfounded accusations are running thicker than air in here, on both sides.
It really just goes to show how passionate gamers, and even game devleopers really are.
This thread really shoulda never been allowed to go this far, I have no problem with most of the people who have posted to this thread, and only minor issues with MMORPG as a whole.
At this point Im just going to say Im sorry if anything I posted in anger or emotionally has hurt or upset anyone.
Now Im just going to lay down my sword and walk away.

You keep harping on this whole legality issue. I am not so sure anything said in the forums regarding Mourning could be held up in a court of law as being "illegal". Someone ranted...if you want to label it libel, go ahead..but that definition has no legs in regards to this issue.
Under your definition, this could be considered libel. This kind of thing happens everyday, on thousands of different forums across the world. It's called opinionated ranting. To be a professional game developer, you have to learn to ignore it. Your product should speak for itself.
I seldom came to this site for news anyway. I know of sites better for general online gaming info. than this one. I've been a beta tester for Mourning from the beginning and really could care less about the personalities that make the game. What is important is the game itself. An artist is remembered not by who he was, but what he created. So lets stop wasting time on malicious forum threads and save our energy for making an innovative mmorpg. If all the ranters on forums threads directed their energies toward suggesting original ideas to put into a mmorpg, maybe the industry would have more variety than it does now.

Unfortunatley there are no other games that are claiming to offer what Mourning is going to offer... otherwise it would h ave sunk a while ago...
Some times i wish that the devs and pubs of mourning would just shut up....
Most of us people who are awaiting mourning are not pleased with the way the team from mourning has treated them, not many will deny that the devs have a lack of profesionalism or can overreact. But there is nothing else out there that offers what mourning is attempting to give, there are no truly open pvp mmo's and there is a strong desire for it.
I think the community wants this game to succeed because of the failing of shadowbane, and without shadowbane there is nowhere to go for the hardcore pvper.
The other thing is that the people who are really going out of there way to discredit mourning and destroy it basicly because they got banned and want to cry about it are not helping things.
for the record somethingawful.com is a site who's sole intention is to hurt others, anyone who subcribes to it or refrences is no better then them. If you want to be taken seriously in this discussion then don't refrence such a pathetic site.

I can completely respect you sticking with it because the game is something you have probably been looking for since UO. I to have had no issue with the game itself, my problem has always been with the developers. It doesn't look like its the game for me but I have never spoken against the game other then once I did state the graphics were abit 2 years ago.
I hope it works out for you, good gaming.

How can so many people come to so many conclusions from reading the same Text?

This is what this all comes down to.. Your job Admin, is not to "send" anyone anywhere. Your job is to inform, and let people go where they wish. On the same point, your job is not to stop or hinder people to go anywhere either. That's the most important reason why Mourning should not have been removed. Press ethics.
There is something called press ethics. Whatever you call MMORPG.com it's obviously widely viewed as the customers main MMO-news site. Strict press ethics is the only way you can keep from becoming corrupted over time, when offering this kind of services. What you've done here is a step on such a path. I would urge you to plan your site-policy for the long term, Admin.
You have probably done this with the best of intentions of course. I can easily see how the behavior of the Mourning staff would be offensive. I can also see how you might have thouht this move would be good in making the statement "behave" to every potential miscreant. But did you consider what this would do for your credibility? It took but a few dis-satisfied forum-trollers to create the first landslide of Mourning dis-creditation a few months ago. So even though most people just shrug or say "good riddance" when recieving the news of Mournings removal, it doesen't really take all that many people pointing out the true downsides to this decision (press ethics) to really hurt MMORPG.com's credibility.
There is a multitude of reasons why a site such as yours would make such a move, many of which are very bad indeed. You could be on the payroll of a competitor of Mourning being paid to discredit it for example. While I don't particulary belive such is the case here, the possability in itself strongly suggest you shouldn't have done this. Also, while I don't particulary belive that you are taking money for discrediting Mourning, many things suggest to its probability. First off you're in this for the money (or so all the adds imply). You'd have to make this a rare event to remain credability (and thus stay on the payroll). Mourning is a perfect target because it has severely bad underground reputation (many people would just be glad hearing someone is fighting back against the terrible community abusers), and as such no suspicion would be considered. Mourning has some new unique features and possably a combat system to ravish the best of them, potentially making them a very dangerous competition to the big boys (whom would be your true employer, and whom would have insiders in Mourning).
Another example could be Admin on a powertrip, using your media-power to manipulating the market forces for whatever reason.
Historically such media abuse where pretty common before press ethics became enforced. As such it is highly probable such is the case here as well, however sympathetic you may seem Admin. It's simply part of human nature. Again, true or not, such possabilities are a big reason press ethics is so important for credability. While you may call your site "promotional" instead of "news" there is no doubt you are a major (maybe the biggest, I don't know) MMORPG media site.
Do you pay for this site to be active, are you employed by this site to gather info, report gaming news? No? Well nice opinion you have, here is mine, not your site, go make your own, and make your desicions for it. If the creator of this web site decides what should be represented on his site or not, his business.
Big business does it all the time, from Pepsi, to Pampers, they giveth information, and they take it away. They decide what they want the public to see, and if they feel a product is inferior, they pull it, reguardless who liked it or not.
I play a lot of MMOs and am generally willing to try new ones. I became aware of Mourning through this website. For some time I have been watching this game with growing skepticism, but this article was the nail in the coffin. I canceled my pre-order.
Among the things that trouble me about this game are:
The release date came and went without a word from the Devs.
The hostility of the Dev team toward, well, everyone, as reflected in their posts.
And now this. Any gamemaker who can't muster some diplomacy and tact in dealing with a private website that is its biggest source of referrals is not one I need to be dealing with. If they mistreat mmorpg.com, how are they going to treat me?
I admit, I was not present for whatever disagreement took place between Mourning amd mmorpg.com, and there are two sides to every story. But in light of the corroberation the above article gives on Mourrning's generally unprofessional demeanor, I tend to believe mmorpg.com.
EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests
Well, like so many of you said, this site is a business, even though the staff swears it's "for the gamers" well if the games a sucess how much money are you willing to bet it will be back on this site? Heck, EQ2 gets front page coverage when a new voice pack is announced for download. The fact is, Mourning is a PvPers game and no matter how many "ringers" are brought in to discredit it, people are still registering for the site, still pre-ordering the game, and still waiting to play it, so all this crap has only made people interested in this game that "ticked the professional staff at MMORPG off so bad" they had to completely remove all topics of the game other than this firewar going on here. So, by refusing to promote it you've done the exact opposite. But the bottom line is still the same, the game wont go away, if it hasnt went away after all this BS then i sincerely doubt it will now. So, thanks for the support, im sure all these "elite members" popping up all of a sudden to defend the site and trash the game are totally objectionable right? suuuure they are. And no fanbois, im not their biggest supporter, it will be a game to merely pass the time till Darkfall comes out, seeing as how it's the other only real PvP game out their.
And on the side note of legality, how can you support a site that lets a company the breaks every MMORPG's EULA in existance rules so blatantly support your site? This entire situation stinks of Macarthy politics, one side (most liekly DnL) have some "members" post lies about their competition on the site they probably pay money to, knowing a few fanbois will run with it and the "mods" wont do a thing about it. .....

MMORPG is obviousley not willing to allow us as players to have access to the games out there through their site, only the ones they feel is ok.... when a company does that you have to question who is signing the checks, and what the companies true motives are.

ParaTrooper, That guy that used to mod the MMORPG.com forums.
Cheers,
Gray Shadow
"In return we received nothing but complaints and insults from their official staff. "
considering how this place is run and the stuff it promotes I would take anything that comes out of your mouths with a heaping grain of salt.
any place that actively goes to bed with another company that is breaking laws is not to be trusted anyhow. l8ter
Slow deep breaths
Peace
You really make some strange comments........
Anyway. Egomancer is comformed as real, please go to the "Black Hole" Section you will find a post there conforming this is indeed him. Again, Im not sure most of you understand how wrong it is to request people personal information without court order(one that would never come). It was threating and a baseless lawsuit.
FINALLY I beleive we agree on something! I don' t know how I missed this the first 3 times through here.

A game is only as good as the staff backing it. The game could be the greatest thing since wonder bread but if the staff is horrible the game will never survive.

Well i think this was a stupid move by this site considering Mourning has more reasons to PvP then any other
mmo ive ever seen.
Lets see- MMORPG.com, SomethingAwful.com- Whats Next???
A game is only as good as the staff backing it. The game could be the greatest thing since wonder bread but if the staff is horrible the game will never survive.

As a representative of a company you do not randomly accuse people of things that you have no "proof" of... which you told me that everything you say must be proven...Please show your proof that anyone here is a DnL dev?Or have you lied about that to. I have tried to reason with you man to man, you dodge my questions like a shady person would. You as a representative are not acting with any professionalism.I am trying to be patient with you in only getting a few questions answered but you are being difficult.
Please proove that Mourning is a scam...
I never said that he is a DnL developer, I said that I BELIEVE that he is a DnL developer. He can defend himself. A simple: I am NOT a DnL developer will be enough - then it will be my word against his word and the evidence we bring . Please prove that I DO NOT believe (this would be the truth if what I claimed would be false) that he is...

The above is the only English speaking component of DNL Everything is translated for us by AD. So any proof that you may hold is false since the Dev's only speak French.
What does his being or not being a DNL Dev have to do with the topic.
Your own actions here make your game look bad.
How professional Of you to come to this forum hijack the topic and create your own personal battlefield with another individual.
P.S. use the damn spell checker. Thats the little ABC with the check mark. Then you can at least appear professional some what.[/b][/quote]
Actuly comenting on speling. thats like saying hay all i just sad dont mean a shit sens i got so childish as to remark on somones spelling. Ther is not a singel cind of person i hate more then thos comenting on speling it is the lowes form of remark you can ever use and realy dont have anthing to do with anything.
lets see oh not from english speking country sure ther are some exelet spelers outside of english speaking countrys but still it is come to make some errors, Second of all in my caise i have dyslexia that do not help in the mater. ther are alot of difrent risons to why a person can not spel 100% corectly and i cant realy see how it has anything to do with Professional sens ther a politics out in the world with realy bad english does that mean ther apinion is less worth. ohh how nice btw so now another war is on now it is MMORPG.com and DnL vs Mourning in your apinion ? this Discussion is out of hand and i cant realy understand why it has not be drop alredy sens nither Mourning nor MMORPG.com stands anything more to win ot lose i think they bout did a realy bad job of handeling ther situation. im not how ever claming i wod be abel to do it beter becuse i wod surly doom all if i ever tryd.
How can so many people come to so many conclusions from reading the same Text?
Hell, yeah, thats simple to explain:
these are personal fights here. and everybody is the only one who knows the real truth.
The lack of available screenshots showing the UI.
This article, http://mourn.warcry.com/scripts/news/view_news.phtml?site=85&id=43740, which in tone and content reflects a total lack of professionalism on the part of the developers of this game.
This entire situation stinks of Macarthy politics, one side (most liekly DnL) have some "members" post lies about their competition on the site they probably pay money to, knowing a few fanbois will run with it and the "mods" wont do a thing about it. .....
See ya! Good luck!!, Have a ball not deleting posts, or censoring things that may offend you and others.
<Sigh> Its always the young ones..........
who said anything about forums?
